...So I was thinking that if any of you are interested, we should meet up and go bar hopping or whatnot. Maybe meet up earlier in the night, get some grub, check out the rides and hang out for a bit, etc etc. Then go out to the bars later.

Anyone interested? I know its kind of short notice. But It is a night thing so I figured id give it a shot.

One thing though, I dont know the best areas of boston that well, so it would be a great plus if someone knew the best spots.

For the 21+ crowd then Friday night on Boylston street is good. Go to the ALLEY and there is plenty of action for the night. You got choices of at least 5 places to hop around. Make sure you dress up or else a chance of getting denied at the door.:shifty Euro crowd is right next door at Gypsy Bar!

I'm not sure I'm available any nights this wknd..... *possibly* friday, but not sure.

I've lived right in town for the past 7 years, just moved to a place across the river last fall.

-Boylston street is good for the college crowd... check out Whiskey's, Pour House, Rattlesnake is fun w/ their roof deck when it's nice, Vox is dressy and upscale, Cactus Club can be a good time.... tons of others

-Fanieul Hall is a lot of fun, caters to some college and lots of recent grads.... check out Hennessey's (band downstairs, DJ/band upstairs)... or was it Green Dragon- can't remember too fucked up when i've been there, they're right next to each other, Bell in Hand, Ned Devine's is slightly more upscale/clubby, Black Rose is good.... shitload of bars nearby.

-Allston Rock City.... right at the crossing of Harvard Ave w/ Comm Ave and Brighton Ave... go to The Avenue for $1 drafts- rated one of the best dives by either Maxim or Stuff, Our House West- another AWESOME dive. The Kells is college age clubby, but is notorious as a big meat market, Harper's Ferry is right there for live music and a bar, Sunset Bar and Grille is THE place to go if you like beer- something like 120 on tap and hundreds more bottled, Wonderbar is a bit more clubby, can be fun but I've seen off nights there depending on the crowd.

That's a brief idea, should get you started...

College...hence the bars ;)

Where the eff is Rutland?

In the middle of nowhere...kind of. Its actually only about 10-15 min outside of Worcester but after about the first 7 minutes of driving, you will see a lot of trees, cows, and hicks...then you will enter Rutland

I'll second the Alley. It's right on the side of the common, you can hit it if going from Boylston street area to Fanieul Hall. Not a very far walk. There are a couple decent places in there, a bit more clubby if you like a sea of people. Gypsy bar is cool- good atmosphere and setup, great music, but a shitty attitudes the times i've been. A lot of posers throwing $ around, acting a little too cool to just hang out w/ random ppl and have a good time. Maybe I've been on off nights.

If you're looking for some other shit to do, Kings has bowling on Boylston street, Jillians (bowling, pool, etc) is over on Lansdowne next to Fenway, and Boston Billiards is over there too near Copperfields, Cask 'n' Flagon, Game On, and Boston Beer Works (that's all just a couple short T stops down Comm Ave from the Allston area I mentioned)

Mother f'ing x2 on Faneuil and Boylston. I'm a big fan of Wiskeys!

I'd park on the street on Boylston if you find a spot, otherwise do the Copley garage. There's a secret garage off Newbury but you'll have to PM me for that one :)

I might be down to clown, how many peeps how many ladies going out?

To be perfectly precise....(and thread-drifting).....

The geographic center of Massachusetts is located in Rutland. There's a marker there to note it, and my father-in-law, a resident olde farte, was interviewed on Channel 5's homespun show "Chronicle" pointing out the feature.

I was going to say that (or somethign like that), but i figured no one would care. I actually like 25 seconds from the "central Tree" which is the exact center of the state.
