ok, so i see that the sunroof problem is common so i figured i'd write a how to for it.

to start off with, you will need to pull out the sunroof head liner. i have both pulled it out and cut through it. the design seems bound to fail, so i have modified it to be completely attached to my roof instead of having it on the rails.

once you have made it through the headliner, you will unbolt the three bolts on each side of the roof. they are pretty easy to see, so just find em and unbolt them.

push up the back and with a really short philips head screwdriver pull of the little plates on each side that are about 3/4 of the way back. slide the sunroof back to those openings and pull the roof off. no that that has been removed, take all the phillips head screws out and remove the metal strips that covers the cables.

now that you have done that you will pick up the brackets that are at the end of the cables so they are no longer on the tracks. crank them all the way out and pull the cables off. now you can begin pulling the rails off. you will have to pull the headliner off the roof. you can now start to unbolt the mechinism. it is a straight forward bolt unbolt.

just reverse the pull apart to put it back together. you will have to glue the headliner back on.

hope this helps

you can remove the entire sunroof, complete with cables and headliner without damaging anything. Just open the sun roof (all the way back, not flipped up) and unscrew and remove the cable track covers. Then bring the sunroof all the way forward to the closed position. The front and then then the back will now lift up and out. Then begin cranking the cables out of the gear box while pulling the roof back. It may help to set the sunroof on a towel on the roof of the car while you back the cables out. Once they're out thats it.

To put it back in just thread the cables in, make sure they engage at teh same time, and let them pull the roof all the way closed. Line the rear lift brackets back up, slide the back of the roof down and slide the roof back into the recessed position while you crank the cables back out. Then just screw the cable covers back in and you're done. You may have to do a rear hieght adjustment on the lift brackets.
