Hi all. New poster. Test drove an 2002 M3 today and Im really liking it. I currently drive an 06 350 Z and while I like it too ive always wanted an M3. The payments would be just around the same so that not a problem but Im looking at the fact that it has around 40,000 miles on it and is obviously several years older than the car Im currently driving. It seems to be in great shape although it can be tough to tell when its sitting in a dealership.

Im just looking for some ideas here and what you all think. Maybe some pros and cons between the two.

Where I live currently is a very short drive between home and work so mileage is not too big of an issue. Im looking for a bit more of an economical car(eg. back seat) but something that is still fast.

Any help from you all is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

check out the service records of the car see if the rod bearing recalls been done and the inspections, but besides that the engine is meant to have alot of miles on it and still run like its new, 40k is nothing compared to what it can handle.

I would look into a 3rd party warranty like the Total Protection Plan, it's what I have. You should definetly get the M3 as well.

Thanks for the info, I will look into the warranty. I ended up buying it so I will pick it up tomorrow. Pretty excited to be the owner of a car that ive wanted for quite awhile. Hope the weather holds up. Beer fest is this weekend, looks like ill have to pick what I want to do more, drink, or drive! Dealer made a good point. If Ive been drinking and my buddy cant drive stick I can just put it in auto. Its going to take a awhile to get used to the SMG
