View Full Version : 240sx vs diesel...
MatteBlackCoupeDude 05-16-2007, 04:10 PM This was a shocker. I'm driving down a long, empty 4 lane road to my girlfriend's, and a diesel pulls up next to me at a light.
No big deal, i think. I won't run him, since it sounded like a normal diesel, and those aren't exactly quick.
He hammers it off the line, and starts BOOKING IT.
 I have never seen a diesel truck (lifted, 4x4, looks like a duramax, but I can't tell, it's dark) burn road like that.
so at the next light, I look up at the driver. Typical, kid playing with daddy's money.
So I decide to feed him a line, and we start out slow, then nail it.
I spooled faster, that's for sure.
Thrown into the seat like a rocket (still not used to the new hp with this new turbo, injectors, fuel pump, maf, S-AFCII,) and I instantly pull about two cars on him. I'm slowly pulling on him (maybe another two car lengths) when we ("we" being me) shut down around 100. He does a ricer fly-by, and flips me the bird out the window. Cute.
Well, I was -very- impressed with that truck. I give kudos to whoever built it, and wish they wouldn't allow their stupid kid to drive it anymore.
For the record, he KEPT it floored even after I shut down. He left sight pretty quickly, but he had to be doing 130+ down what turned into residential.
Few days later I learned that a friend of mine died racing some kid who rear ended him at about 80 after he won.
I've offically hung up my hat with the street running stuff. I've had two people I know die doing it, and I won't become just another statistic, and the people who modify cars in my town are getting dumber and more dangerous.
:buttrock rock on fellas.
MatteBlackCoupeDude 05-16-2007, 04:23 PM 240 mods?
koyo copper+brass racing radiator, flex-a-lite dual pullers, handmade CAI with hard-line recirc (eliminates lag between shifts), hybrid dynamics FMIC, 660cc venom injectors, modified gt35r rated at 570hp (previous car it was on made 550, hand built by a phoenix garret turbo shop), z32 TT maf, rerouted oil catch resivoir, 255lph fuel pump, tuned, tubular steel manifold, divided wastegate turbo elbow, 3 inch downpipe, 4 inch test pipe, 3 inches of pipe all the way back to a free-flow can, and a bunch of other things that I can't remember off the top of my head.

ImportFanatic 05-16-2007, 04:30 PM Don't underestimate turbo diesels. For some reason they respond, IMO, very well to MODs.

They're absurd machines, I've seen a duramax run propane and nitrous injecton, with about 60-70 pounds of boost.
it spun the tires in every gear with duallie slicks.
TN97D90 05-16-2007, 04:37 PM I love diesel's, The things will fly with just some chips, injectors, and exhaust. The key to any engine is let it breath and a diesel responds better than gas engines to it. My next truck will be a DODGE cummins after i get rid of my D-90 down the road, They are great platforms and I can even tow 13,000 pounds and get 22mpg if built right. Plus i want to be able to smoke cars:redspot
Ahhhh, I know who you are. I followed your rebuild thread on 240sxforums. I thought you sold the 240 for them M coupe.

Trying to sell the 240 still.
yeah, the i_Go_SpLaT handle was taken for these forums :mad
I hate the handle I have now >_>
McoupeBobby 05-16-2007, 07:53 PM your 240 is sickk
and you got the gt35R? dayum. that is one massive turbo.

The headlights he has are the OEM ones that come on the 97-98 240 here in the US. They are the same as the JDM ones.

he was probably thinking about s15 headlights.
I love my headlights, far better than zenki ones.

My car after I had first gotten it. kept it at my sister's for the engine swap, but did the wheels/suspension first.
MrKevko330i 05-17-2007, 03:30 AM Is that KA-T your running? Fully built KA24 turbo? If so, that's some very impressive horsepower numbers if so. Even with stock forged block sr20det red top it'll still be hard to get that kind of horsepower numbers but i'm sure tuned & built properly it's always possible. Got any pictures of engine bay? Since you live in AZ area I'm assuming you've gone to FULL-RACE shop & seen whats his name's AWD turbo right hand drive 240sx with full AWD conversion lol.

it's an s13 sr. No up-to-date pics of the engine bay however. The stock bottom end can hold 575hp before letting go. but I barely run my motor for bursts of 500+.
mostly, I just run her around 375.
aye, the one with the skyline 4wd drivetrain?
that car probably has 150 grand in work alone.
But if I were going for something to that effect, I'd just get a nissan stagea.
Family station wagon, rb26dett, skyline drivetrain.
Sleeper, anybody?
PoshDesignNy 05-18-2007, 11:09 AM IF IM NOT MISTAKEN the 2004 330ci lost to the 330d around the track.

The SR has cast pistons, powder forged rods, just like the KA.

Diesel are VERY nice nowadays. Iīm looking at upgrading my 320D towards the new BMW 335d. It has a 3.0 liter CDI, dual E-VNT turbo engine thatīll put out 340HP and 488ft/lbs with only a wetterauer flashload! Itīll also top out at 177mph!

first of all, the company's name is Pauter, and they make absolutely ZERO rods for an OE manufacturer
Powder rods :rofl
SHIFT 325iS 05-19-2007, 05:05 PM nice 240 and great pick of turbo,
sr20 ftw
timsco 05-19-2007, 05:39 PM on pimp my ride they took a 63 impala and put a durmax diesel in it with a turbo and a bunch of other mods. it had 800hp/1800trq and got 25 mph the show showed it beastin on a lambo.:devillook

Ouch. Backfire.
2. Powder Forging
Powder forging (P/F) is used to produce components essentially free of internal porosity. The associated properties are equivalent to those developed in conventional precision forged products made from billets. The P/F process (Figure 10) is performed in three steps with the first two similar to normal PM processing. A preform is pressed as a conventional PM compact. The mass, density, and shape of the preform are controlled closely to ensure consistency in the characteristics of the final forged component. The preform is sintered with particular attention paid to the reduction of nonmetallic inclusions. The sintered preform is then reheated, placed in the forging die, and forged to full density. The tooling shape is designed to be close to that of the finished part with material flow controlled to fill the cavity completely.

Bs, the people at pimp my ride dont even know how to open a cars hood.
umcool911ok 05-21-2007, 06:27 PM Actually they do, do work on the engine of all the cars, but they dont show it because everyone who watches the show does not know anything about them and wouldnt watch it if they showed that. Overhaulin is cool though..... haha and your 240 looks like the one from Spikes Bullrun...and thats the S14 Front right

It's an s14 car, so it's only right it got the kouki s14 front.
Had the ugly zenki front on it origionally, since it's a '95.
and yes, bobby, that's the stock 97-98 face a 240 had.
bone stock bodywork, down to the SE front spoiler. the paintwork is all custom, though.
Or maybe the skyline sedan?
no, the r33 skyline sedan was extreme rare. I'm referring to the stagea

soonermattM3 05-23-2007, 10:47 AM I watched a drag racing event on speed channel that had nothing but everyday work trucks. These diesel trucks were running low 10's on huge tires. They also talked about taking a diesel truck, adding a few mods (dont remember what they were, but only costing like 1500 bucks) and producing 800hp with 1300 lbs of torque.
