My wife has had her '07 328xi for about two weeks now, and I want to start disassembling it. Actually I bought her the wod shifter and e-brake handle, and need instructions on how to remove/replace them. Thanks

Thanks for that. It is very informative about the brake lever. Anyone know how to remove an automatic shifter handle? My parts came in today, and I would like to install them tomorrow. Thanks

and more specifically to remove an auto shifter -- In my experience the auto shifter is even easier to remove than the standard...However, there is one little problem...Before you unscrew the handle to pop it off you must first release the screw that holds it tight...you may have to look from the floorboard up at the bottom side of the handle to find the screw. It is almost always just one screw, but it may be on the bottom or side of the t-handled top, or perhaps even on the column of the actual shift lever. Once the tensioner screw is found and removed, just unscrew the handle, and pop it off...Be cautious when pulling and turning, there may be a wire harness or electrical clip snaked along and/or attached to the lever.
hope this helps

Well I got the parts installed today. Very easy, and took about 10 minutes to do both pieces. Here is how it goes on an auto trans '07 328xi (E90).

Shifter:

Removal;
Place shifter in neutral
Grab shifter knob firmly, pull straight upward with alot of force.

Install;
Place shifter knob in place on shifter
Press downward until it bottoms out to the boot.

E-brake handle:

Removal:
It is easier if e-brake is set
Disengauge boot by pulling away from console (no tools required)
Grab e-brake handle and pull straight forward towards dashboard
Invert boot to expose nylon tie wrap that attatches boot to handle
Snip off tie wrap and remove handle from boot.

Installation;
Position handle inside boot, and tie wrap them together
Slide e-brake handle into place until it clicks
Position boot to console, and press until it seats all the way around.

It took longer for me to type this than it did to do the job. Plus it looks sweet.

How many posts do I need before I can post pics? I cannot post smilies as of yet. I tried to copy bimmer335i07's post, and I cannot do it because of the smilies.
