Yeah, I know about Brian/Terry and Stan/Sue. That is why I want to run in that class. Nobody runs in FPrepared. I don't want to run alone, so I'll move up. :redspot My car won't be competitive at all because of the limitations of my class in BMWCCA Club Racing IPrepared. Oh well, that is what happens when you "compromise".

Congratulations on the National Tour win! :cool

Good to hear you're not totally giving up on autocrossing! I'm sure you'll have fun in IP. The wheel to wheel stuff looks like crazy fun, but it's too rich for my blood, now.

That's cool. Get a weekend or two under your belt and eval and you'll be rockin' along.

How does it drive with all of the new go fast parts?

JT nice to see the Red Rocket ride again.

How does it drive with all of the new go fast parts?

It has a bit of a loss in torque down low but it pulls from 4,000 to about 7,500RPM like a booster rocket! I got sideways hitting 3rd on concrete the other day with 255/35-18 tires on it. The car even sounds different. When I get the 4 clutch 3.73 in there and the long tube headers with full race exhaust (Active Autowerke), I will be quite happy. I am expecting 265-270RWHP. :D

I wish I did a 3.73 now as well, but the 4 clutch 3.64 will have to do.

That may be true up there but we had a pretty good turnout at the Houston Tour this past weekend. And the class was won by Tomlin in a 4-door E36 even! Man, I gotta get faster...

Show up to any Spokes event if you want some FP competition!

Interesting. I may very well do that sometime for a tour but 4 hours is quite a drive for a regular AX. Thanks for the heads up.

We're driving back from the Houston Divisional and FP was still pretty well attended (4-5?) but Tomlin didn't run. He needs to get his E30 back together! Shenoys' E36 looked fast in most placed but Tom Holts 240Z took the win. That 4 door 325 is so damn light @ 2250 lbs! They'll drop the last 50# if they build an Al block or go to 15" wheels, easily.

Went by Tomlins shop in Pearland on the way back and saw Matteucci worked on his XP 318is (Alpha E36 LS1 car), fitting the 17x11s and 315 R compounds. He'll be another regular XP racer me thinks, and fast when he gets it down to min weight (2340 lbs I think). The E36 should be narrower than the C5 by a good bit. We are pursuing this same formula but going 5.1L (LS1) instead of 5.7, for lower min weight (-140 pounds = 2200).

Would an E46 go to FP also? We'd love to have an E46 running the Vorshlag flag, and with BMW power (S54) it could play with the BMWCCA Club racing crowd (mod I guess). Need to see where an E46 330 or M3 goes for Solo2 and CCA Club classing...

We got clobbered by the STEVOS at the Div, but 40+ events on these year old tires doesn't help! The new 18x10s are due any day for the new 265/35/18 Bridgestones. Need some fresh, bigger tires badly! :D

Talk to me about a full length S52 header Toons! Having one custom built soon and it will rock...

In the Stock and Prepared BMW CCA classes, the E46 330 would be an I car like the E36 M3 while the E46 M3 would be an H car. In the Modified class, they are all three C cars unless you drop a 4.4 V8 in it. That'll take you to B but it is not recommended-just ask Eric Lind what a hassle that is.

In the Stock and Street Prepared SCCA Solo classes (there is no Solo2 anymore), the E46 M3 is an A car, the E36 M3 is a B car and the E46 330 is a D car. They can all run Street Modified. In the Prepared class, all three can run F or X. :D

Thought so. Need to look at both the CMOD CCA rules and SCCA Solo FP rules to see how well they align. If they are somewhat compatible (meaning: a max-prepped FPrepared Solo car could be legal and potentially max prepped in CMOD CCA car) this could make a great crossover / dual purpose E46 we've been trying to find an excuse (and customer!) to build.

Gotcha. Any other info you care to share on CMod? Link to rules, weight/displacement forumulas, general mod limits such as: allowed wheel widths? any tire limitaitons? is engine management open? things like that.

All I know about CMod for BMWCCA is they have to be BMW based motors. :D

Greg got you the link....hmmm...rules? Very few rules in Mod. 1) you need a BMW chassis, 2) you need a BMW motor (might just be the block, I forget), 3) you need a BMW tranny, 4) no cockpit adjustable sway bars, 5) ferrous driveshaft (4 and 5 unless you want to go Super Mod). That is about the extent of the rule book for Mod. No weight minimum.

Thanks guys. Reading Modified rules now (or lack thereof). :)

Looks like just about anything goes. No minimum weight = baffling.
