Anyone know of a decent place to get small quantities of steel around Dallas? I'm looking mostly for square stock and plate to make things like a tire rack for my trailer and a workbench.

How much do you need, because I have a ton of stock I need to get rid of. It was bought at EMJ Metals, but you have to have a vendor account to buy there and purchase over a certain amount for your first buy in.

If you need small quantities Metal Supermarkets have a good selection but are super expensive. I have plenty of 1.5" square DOM Tubing if you are interested. i also have roll bar / cage tubing, aluminum sheet for underpanels, etc.... I need it gone. Let me know.

I've used Trident (http://www.trident-metals.com/trident/tridentweb.nsf?open) in richardson plenty of times .

Great service , good products and decent prices the times I've dealt with them .

Trident is our on-call supplier of metal at work, and the price is pretty decent, but I'm not sure if that's the "hookup" price or if almost anybody can get that.

I use trident all the time for work, well I did in my old job. But the type of purchases I'm looking for are much lower cost, and I'm not really up to speed on structural type of material and it's costs. I've never used regular old steel of any type at work.

Oh, and I think the 'hookup' from trident is that they'll have the hard to find stuff.

Yea, they always seem to have it whenever I spec something beyond the usual 2024/6061/7075.

I checked McMaster-Carr a few days ago for just a small 3'x2'x0.25" piece of Al - alloy didn't really matter, and Al has either gone through the roof or they don't want to be selling much of it! I think that piece was around $190ish for 3003.

mcmaster is pricey on material from what i've found, but anyone is going to be for the low quantity orders unless you can get drops from someone. I just don't know the right places here just yet.

I think the 1.5" stuff Scho has might be perfect if the price is right :)

Scho, are you ever online???

Yeah I'm here, just seldomly. We can hook up this weekend if you want to take a look at it. Let me know how much you are wanting and I will see what all I have.

Is your AIM listed here on this site correct? Sunday evening could work for me.

I don't really know how much I'm looking for, depends on what you've got. Could be a lot or a little, my list of things to make is growing.
