I was first to state an opinion. If you know how forums work, the first reply lays the ground work for all others to follow. A chat room would never, ever ever ever stay on topic.

So in any case, no we do not need a chat room, so this thread is now a free for all.

Not to be a pessimist, but let's first ask the question: What would the chat room's purpose be?

If it's just to shoot the breeze, there are other places for that.
If it's to serve a specific purpose, like discuss E21-specific topics at specific times, to be moderated by folks with experience on the specific topic, then sure.
Otherwise, it could be a HUGE waste of time for little or no benefit.

Here is how a chat works:

-Everyone is excited and on it and chatty away
-Day Two: 1-2 people get on it during the whole day
-End chat

Its a neat idea, and it would be funny. but sadly, it wouldn't last more than a few days. I've tried the idea before. It was Meh.

+1 for chat, its not like it costs you anything and you dont have to do much to keep the room open. If you come online to post on the forum people usually chat away for a bit in the room too.

No, it is actually a waste of time. Logically, if this e21 section had, lets say, 500 people. Then it might be a good idea, we only have 20-30 people who visit everyday, most of which only come for a short time to check the posts and wouldn't have time to actually hop on a chat and talk about nothing. So you would end up with probably close to 1-2 people on at the same time, if you are lucky.

A chat room is not needed in my opinion, due to the fact we have members in deferent countries and time zones, so not everyone would be able to log in and chat at the same time.
I see Jason, CJ, and Matt, and GJ on AOL and Messenger sometimes and I say hello and chat a little while.

I know plenty of rooms who exist with less than 10 people in them and would be lucky to have 2-3 people chatting at the same time. your point is what exactly? i cant see the problem, if you dont spend much time online, you dont have to come in. Other people can still stay logged in and idle, then chat when they feel the need.

what about the whole forum not just e21 nation.. i know that sounds rather ludacris

Isn't a chat room exactly what we are doing right now? think about it. We aren't bound to any code in the e21 section, you can really say almost anything you want with no problems.

Look, if you want to create a chat room, by all means go ahead and do it. But by the display of most people here, you won't get very many people to hop on and chat since they can do the exact same thing here.
