LAvision 05-15-2007, 02:20 AM How hard would an install to a Us spec car be? Would I need to wire a sensor to the cluster for the oil temp? Also, how many miles are read on this cluster.

easy......i had another cluster and done mine today. you split them and then you use your original half. i'll be doing the oil temp conversion at a later date.

yeah it will work......the only difference between a 3.0 and a 3.2 euro cluster is the redline band (i think).....i'm sure vitolo may correct me on that:)

ultimachi 05-15-2007, 11:30 PM Quick question, will the actual mileage be portrayed for the car, or is the mileage on the cluster? So to say, if I swap it out, will it show my mileage or the cluster's mileage?
328iJunkie 05-16-2007, 01:36 AM The Euro 3 and 3.2 are interchangable...
The one youre selling has the oil temp in deg F, mines in C :(... My redline starts at 7500 though :D (even though my motor doesnt spin that high haha)

omak81 05-17-2007, 11:12 AM I am interested in this cluster, but need to know if my actual mileage will show on the new cluster or will it carry over the mileage from the car it was takin out of?

The readout will always be the mileage on the cluster, not the car. So, if you have a cluster, whatever car you put that particular cluster into, the mileage will alwyas read the same. There are software/hardware packages on ebay that allow you to change the mileage on the cluster itself. I've never used one, but I hear they work fine if you know how to use it.

Actually, I remember reading another thread about this a long time ago and that it is possible to get your car's mileage onto the cluster. If I remember correctly, it involves swapping your coding plug from your existing cluster into the Euro cluster and then a set of steps involving the OBC. I'm sure Porschetech can chime in on this one. I may be wrong, but I'm almost definite that I've seen or read it being done before. Also, I believe the mileage on the Euro cluster must be LOWER than your current mileage. Hope this helps!
