I turned in my 328xi in for service yesterday and got a 335i loaner. First let me say this. The 335i is what a BMW is all about. I now kick myself I did not spend the extra $3,500.
My comments
1.) Throttle response is amazing. I had two Audi turbos in the past, and in comparison there is zero turbo lag in this car. The tach needle responds with the slightest of touch.
2.) Brakes in the 335i are what I expect and am used to in a BMW, the brakes in my 328xi are mushy and just plain average for this price range.
3.) The slush'o-matic in the335i exhibited some quirky moments but not nearly as often or exaggerated as in the 328.
4.) This loaner has the standard seats, HORRIBLE! Period. Not much else to say about that.
5.) The non sport steering wheel, ugly, unsightly and weird to touch.
6.) The upgraded stereo, I actually prefer the standard stereo better.
Bottom line, If you an afford a couple extra $ a month get the 335 with the sport package, the power to weight ratio, incredible throttle response, better brakes and balance is what a BMW is all about.
