My stock auto 2000 328i vs his c4 corvette...

i expected to lose, however i did not expect to get downright humiliated....from stop he easily passed me and shot off into the distance....and from the top...i had it floored and he was revving his engine right near me to show that he hasn't even floored it and was still ahead of me..

for shame :(

C4 corvette could have had 205 hp to 375 ?

say byby. unless it was an 84. those were the fastest corevettes

Is there any BMW that could have beat it?

its hp was 330.

lol
I had a C4 for a little under a year during highschool, and it attracted races---and weird ones, too---like nothing else I've driven, big bright yellow taxi cab of a Dakar M3 included. Oddly, it was BMWs that wanted to race disproportionately often.
I think every kid in town with a slow-mobile auto 323 or 325 probably tried to line up against me at least once, and I'm only halfway joking :confused
It's not like Vettes are a rare sight, but I guess seeing a kid driving is enough of one to get a reaction.

As far as BMWs that could take one out without modding too heavily: an E36 M3 with light mods and/or a particularly good driver could pull it off assuming a stock LT1 C4. A stock 540 six-speed could do it from a roll pretty easily, but little chance from a dig. An E46 M3 wouldn't have too much of a problem against a stocker; I beat an SMG convertible on the highway once in my slowass 2.59 granny-geared automatic, though, so maybe not all of them are safe. A 545/550 and 645/650 should walk from a roll, as well as an M5 or M6 of E34 or newer vintage. Basically, if you can run a mid-13 or trap in/over the low 100's, you should be good. Against an LT4, I'd feel a bit sheepish in an E46 M3 or E39 M5, and an LT5 ZR1 would give a new M5 or M6 a good run.

..and a lot of modded C4s on the road today. At least 50% of my C4 buddies have heads and cam, or superchargers, or nitrous, or a combination.. Be careful out there...

Yeah, mine had intake(K&N drop-in), exhaust(res delete), and chip(Hypercrap)...needless to say, I had the Dana36 crying for mercy everytime I hit the go pedal---it might have layed down a whole 250rwhp! :rofl

But seriously, the LT1 is an underrated engine, and the C4 an underappreciated car now that its 2 generations old. Basic bolt ons---serious bolt ons, not like mine :( ---are almost mandatory these days, and heads/cam swaps yield great gains. I've personally seen a couple strokers in my area, locally, and there really aren't that many C4s running around to begin with---way more C3s, C5s, and now C6s.

I think you almost have to own one to appreciate them these days. So many haters...

Ah, silly me. I never updated my profile. Sorry about the confusion.

And if the eclipse is good enough for Brian Spilner, its good enough for me.

one of my real good friends has a 89 c4 and my z32 300zx twin turbo pulled on it anyday. I gotta say though those corvettes are not slow , at least when you floor it in a c4 it feels REALLY fast torque baby

After the race he told me it was a stock 330 hp.

I sort of raced a C4 vert last night. He was on my a$$ when the car in front of me pulled over a lane and I floored in 5th. He stayed with me so when slowed for traffic I tossed it into 4th and we were off. Unfortunately the traffic was moderate so after passing a couple cars on the right I came to my senses and stayed in the left lane until I came up on a RX8 off all cars. He was going 65 and I wasn't about to keep driving like a fool so I gave up. The C4 danced over to the right lane and was gone.

He probably thinks he beat me but whatever...it isn't worth hurting someone.

I disagree... The ugliest....and worst by far is the 1982 corvette.....crossfire injected POS...200hp....the most expensive Corvette ever produced (at the time), only available in automatic.
I happen to think that the 1996 Corvette Grand Sport is mighty sexy though......:D

As far as ugly.....there are many current american cars that could use a little less rice.

I'd have to agree.....There are a lot of people who think the C4s were ugly (and that's fine) but I always liked them. They look AWESOME with a drop and a set of ZR1 rims on them...mmmmm....and a ZR1 Corvette.......:buttrock 405hp LT5 32Valve DOHC V8.......:eyecrazy

I agree as well, to this and post that you Quoted. I love Vettes with a passion... but that '82 was a huge disappointment

Yes, immensely.

The late C3's were a garish plastic and rubber-clad caricature of some of the most beautiful cars ever created---the early chrome-bumper C3s. They epitomize everything that sucked so hard about '70s and '80s styling. For that matter, everything about them sucked, too, not just the looks. They were incredibly slow, didn't go around corners at all due to having a chassis that dated directly back to the early '60s, and....yeah, I adore Vettes, but I hate the late C3s. They're the only ones I positively can't stand.

And I don't care for the early C4s too much, like the one pictured, but the facelifted '91+ models are much nicer looking.

The early C3 is my favorite Vette, but those later years just sucked.

I'm thinking about selling my MKIII Supra for an LT1 C4. I'm tired of dumping all my money into this car when it will never be worth more than $6k-8k.

A c4 wont be much better in terms of worth. At least around here, they are a dime a dozen. Cars arnt an investment, unless youre going for a 69 camaro or something like that.

I would much rather save up and buy a c5, huge difference.

The point is I will have to spend another 10k to get my Supra where I want it, I've already spent 15k. The car is probably worth 6k right now...

Or I could sell the Supra, spend 11k on a Corvette, and have a Corvette that's worth 11k.

I'm not looking for an investment, I'm just looking for something that is worth what I put into it. I'm tired of burning my money lol.
