Hey guys,

Long story short, was driving home from work and pulled up next to a silver IS300. Guy looks over at me, and I nod. Light turns green, and I ease it into first to see what he'll do. He pulls ahead by about half a car length and we hold there for a few seconds. At about ~4K RPM, I see his back tires start to spin a little, and I mash the throttle. First to second produces a little chirp and launches me bumper-to-bumper with him, where we hold steady until about 5K RPM on my side. I then begin to walk away steadily. By fourth, I have 2-3 car lengths on him and am still gaining.

His car looked bone stock from what I saw. Those IS300 exhausts were always too large to begin with IMHO. I have a Dinan chip/CAI (which is good for like, 6WHP?).

I gave the guy a thumbs up at the next light, and he rolled down his window and asked if it was a five-speed. I nodded and turned off to head home.

M3/4/5 FTW :)

CLIFF: M3/4/5 put 2-3 car lengths on an IS300 from a dig by fourth gear. IS300 stock (I think). M3 Dinan chip/CAI.

OP - if your m3 is a 98, how do you have a chip?

modified is300 is the slow.
properly modded turbo is300 isn't... but different class.

He means becuase you really don't chip the OBD II cars. Chip/Software, whatever.

It just confuses me because if you actually did this mod, you would know your obd2 vehicle software when installed did not have any chip involved.

I call BS, I usually have at least 6 cl by the end of 3rd........on stock IS:D

My friend has an IS300 and tried to mess me one night it wasn't even funny or fare lol. He kept telling me about turbo plans :dunno I want him too though, that would be sick. I love the body style and the way the fenders flare, it is a lot like the shape of an E36 just a little bigger. Good cars :buttrock

I took an 04ish (i think) is300 on the freeway we were neck and neck till 90 but i got 2-3 cl on him after that all the way to 130 ish before i shut it down.......i have a 325......i'm surprised u were that close to him. I would expect you to hand his ass to him.

i have no idea:eek:.........he's a member of IS300.net but i never knew what happened. i guess he don't want to discuss the mishaps.....but the car has a new owner now and is close to 1000whp:eyecrazy

He sold the IS300! Maybe that's why they haven't made a video in like 2 years. I miss the Visionboy stuff.

I drive an E46 325i sedan and get into it with the IS300 guys a bit, for the most part they are all auto's that I can tell, I usually get out infront of them, but the ocasional good driver or heavily modded car comes around too.

I was at the track once and saw an IS with a supra turbo motor in it, I walked away from him... on two feet!

wow, good kill. Yeah, from what I have experienced, stock IS300 auto's are pretty slow...I remember some highway runs with my slightly modded Corolla and it was barely leaving me every time...and we ran several times and the Corolla is really slow! I mean, yes it beat me, but I expected more. You know what I think it's equal to...an Audi A4 1.8T...that would be a good race! :)

nice, he probably had a auto is300...at waterfest last year when i went to go pick up some beer, i pulled up next to a kid in an is300 he told me it was auto, we went from a dig at a light and i got him on the launch and stayed dead even...he didnt want to go past 90 and i was about 1/4 car ahead. pretty easily eh? what have you done to your car? a modded e46 325 auto=stock IS............a 5 spd = auto stock for stock, so i don't know how you can beat an IS pretty easily with out FI.....

I love the is300, great interiors. Much better than audi/vw imo.

That being said I was pretty even with one up to 85-90 with my stock talon.

They're not the GTE motors (weaker internals) but some guys build them up and push some serious hp. I bought mine as a DD last year and gotta say I like it, it might not be that fast (think e36 328-ish) but that's ok, that's what the M is for ;)
