View Full Version : 1st track day kills: mitsu evo, turbo 350z
bcrisp82 05-13-2007, 05:19 PM Well i got my car to the track finally for a little 1/8 mile action. On street tires the best time I could pull was an 8.9 @ 81 mph. I was spinning all the way through first though with a 2.2 second 60ft time.
I killed a mitsu evo and a turbo 350z... and my times were better than all the mustangs and camaros that weren't on slicks, although I didn't get to race any.
I have a supercharged E36 btw. i'll have videos for the runs next weekend
McoupeBobby 05-13-2007, 05:54 PM you killed an evo in a 1/8 mile?
were you running slicks?
edit: accually come to think about it, thats believeable depending on the evo mods.
PointMEby 05-13-2007, 05:59 PM I did a 2.0 60ft and 9.0 on a stock E36 M3. Whats your elevation
Yasir 05-13-2007, 06:20 PM My friends EVO IX with IC,23 PSI boost and a regeared tranny does mid 7's in 1/8 mile....
milKT 05-13-2007, 07:24 PM post vids of kills,
Evo & Z engine bays
and the faces of the Evo & Z drivers
so we can tell if they were just crappy drivers
or if your car just excelerated like a rocket after your 2.2 sec 60ft time.
j/k:rolleyes
Rogue M3 05-13-2007, 11:01 PM My friends EVO IX with IC,23 PSI boost and a regeared tranny does mid 7's in 1/8 mile....
He didn't mention the year of the Evo so it could have been an 03 VIII which makes it believable. Especially if the Evo driver bogged at the start. AWD launches are tough to get right.

+1
That's drag racing for you!
It's strange enough that a Supercharged M3 is only trapping 81mph in the 1/8th, but to "kill" an Evo...with a 2.2 short time? That Evo deserves a better driver...but that's the sport of drag racing. "Run watcha brung"....which also includes the all important driver mod.
Point of reference:
I'm not the greatest driver, but my bone stock '05 VIII ran 8.4's @82-83mph.
With just a 3" exhaust and K&N drop-in filter (stock tune and boost) I ran 8.1's at 86-87mph.
The '03-04 VIII's are a little slower but should still be hitting high 8's easily with a non-bogging 60ft (stock).
You need to get some drag radials on that thing and work on your 60fts. You could be hitting mid-8's.
Steiner 05-14-2007, 12:46 AM Car bowling is fun but only a small sample of what a SC'd M3 can do. Get that bad boy on a road course and have some real fun!
m3chaser 05-14-2007, 08:13 AM what in the world is your elevation? I ran a 1.91 60ft and an 8.7 1/8th for my best time. If you are supercharged then I would imagine that you have to be faster then I would be down the track.
Ever taken it to a 1/4 mile track?

Phhhsss. I ran an 8.40 BONE STOCK in my evo 8. This at beech bend raceway which is close to your altitude in Indiana. That EVO driver must be physically handicapt. But then again, I did witness a dumb ass driving his lightly modded evo to mid 15's. He asked why mine was faster than his, I replied, "I have the driver mod." lol.
Funny thing is, even when I nearly killed the car off the line with a bog down, and missed a gear in the same run, I still mustered out low 14's. I dont see how some of these idiots drive so badly.

every track is different. There were no cars running that fast short of racing slicks.
The best time the EVO got with 2 different drivers was a 9.0
We both had our best runs against each other the one time we ran.
I'll scan in the time slip if you want to see against the evo. I'm not sure what the year was on it. He beat me in the 60ft and i pulled away the rest of the run. Only mod i saw on the evo was a k&N and he mentioned something about alcohol/air exchanger but i'm not sure if thats stock or not.

they have an intercooler sprayer stock. But not used with alcohol. Anyways, im not doubting you beat him. Id be surprised if you didnt and he was mostly stock. Just the times are slow. Must be a really shitty track. where in indiana do you live? I am from Newburgh, right outside of Evansville.
saint166 05-21-2007, 01:43 PM on a short 1/8 mile track traction is everything . op said he spun all the way through 1st and 2nd but with his s/c he really got rolling once he got traction . i ran my car in an 1/8 and with all the guys running on slicks laying all that rubber on the track when i ran with street tires it was like being on grease .

AWD launches are a lotttt easier than RWD...

isnt that the truth, although my old S4 didnt come near my evo in the launch department.
Righteous 05-22-2007, 08:27 AM Nice Indiana Bimmer. I plan on having a supercharged E36 this year or next.

Its the shit track in Terre Haute. It has been under new ownership like 3 years in a row and it is ghettofied. I am taking my car to norwalk raceway park in ohio over memorial day weekend to see how it does in the 1/4.
