Hello everybody, im having trouble with my clutch and i was hoping somebody could point me in the direction of what is wrong. The car is a 1984 633CSi. The clutch seems to be okay, it does have 115k miles on it so it is worn, but does not slip when i performed the whole 5th gear at 30 mph test. When i push the clutch to the floor, it makes a rubbing/grinding noise. When the clutch is released, the sound is much less noticable and sometimes even non existent. Not sure what the problem is. Could it be the clutch master cylinder?? Something else??? Please help if you have any ideas. Thanks, Jon

I have an 84 633 5spd as well. (I just had to put a tranny on her tho :( But hey, she runs like a champ now.

I;m guessing here, but I would think maybe TO bearing, it sounds to me like the clutch is just disengaging too far and hitting something.

May just need an adjustment?

I dont mess W/ clutches so when they screw up on me, I take her to the shop.

BTW she's delphin metallic W/ black leather comfort seats.

What color is yours?

I would love a polaris one, that color is my fav on old bimmers.

from what you're describing, I would bet it's the throw out bearing.

requires gearbox removal to replace.

If you baby it, you can go quite awhile before having to replace it. Just remember to only push the clutch when you're ready to go - don't sit at a stoplight with it in, as an example.

Of course, easier said than done if you're in stop and go traffic...

mine is also delphin metalic!! awesome color and mine is in good shape. I found out it was the throw out bearing going bad so since i have to remove the tranny to fix it, i decided to get a whole new clutch kit. It will be nice with a new clutch. she will be like new. this weekend i got everything out of the car and now i need to get the parts from bavarian autosport and put them back in. next weekend she will be ready to rock and roll again!! i cant wait.
