I tried in the E46 forum but didnt get a response.

Specifically the following one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...7439771&rd=1,1 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=010&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&viewitem=&item=200107439771&rd=1,1)

the dimpled/perforated leather knob feels brilliant.

I ask because whenever i see it for sale, its advertised for E87/E90/E91 only, never for the E46. It comes with the leather boot and the boot frame. The frame will obviously not fit the E46, but i could use my current frame, and the knob should fit on shouldnt it?

The seller says it wont fit, but ive seen after market hartge/momo knobs advertised, that say they'll fit both the E46 and E90.

Please help!

It comes with the boot attached so you've got a problem there. The knob itself would probably fit, but I'm not positive of that.

Is it not possible to peel away the leather boot from the frame as they say in some of the DIYs? That way i could use my old frame and attach it to the E90 boot which as you say is attached to the gear knob.

I found this thread elsewhere, apparently the shift knobs are all interchangeable:

And i'll use the technique detailed in the following link to remove the frame from the E90 knob and stick on my E46 frame, pretty sure it ought to work:

I wasn't saying it was impossible, just troublesome. I would agree that the knob itself probably fits.

Your boot is very square, the E90 boot frame is very tappered at one end. The stitching that lines up with the corners of the E90 frame will not line up on a square frame and there may not be enough leather to go around. While it's not the same knob the boot that comes M sport is the same as mine.

I'm sure you can cut the boot off, just not sure what is underneath and whether that would be easy to recover.
