Hello ! I bought a 635 csi 2nd series... I had problems with si board, and took out the batteries... I then soldered the 50cm long wires on the si board and put the 2 AA battery holder in a glove department... Now I do not have batteries in a holder and all the instrument are working fine except si lights (because I do not have batt connected) and the temp gauge is also at fault... When I turn the ignition key to the position I or II, the gauge moves for approx 2mm and then does not move anymore, even if the engine gets hot... I do not know if this is still si-board connected problem or just one of the sensors went bad... or the temp gauge is at fault...

Brake problem... When the car is running and I hit the brake pedal it holds strong for a second or two, but then starts feeling soft...
We pumped the air out of the brake calipers, but the problem remains... my power steering pump is leaking... could this be connected ? Or did we destroy the pressure bomb with pumping air out of calipers ?

Thanks for any help!

Best regards, J

The pressure bomb is most likely the problem to begin with. If it was doing that on you...firm for a few seconds then fades to soft, its usually the brake bomb.

The temp gauge gets its power or ground through the SI board (depends on the year). Put the batteries in!!! If still not working, ground the wire to the temperature sender, see here: http://bigcoupe.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3727 The gauge should go to full hot if the sender, wires and cluster plug are good.

To check the accumulator, AKA the "brake bomb", open the hood and remove the top to the hydraulic reservoir . Then pump the brakes 15/20 times to discharge the bomb back into the system. While you are pumping, you should see the level of the ATF fluid in the reservoir raise to within 3/8" of the top edge of the reservoir if it is properly filled. If the level does not rise, the bomb is not charging and is bad.
