Totally cosmetic. Has the full leather interior (incl. dash & headliner). You'll see a fair number with vinyl dashes since many/most leather ones warped. A replaced one is a plus in my book. mikese36 05-11-2007, 07:53 PM Totally cosmetic. Has the full leather interior (incl. dash & headliner). Thats what I thought. Its on a car lot for $2500.I called the guy he said the body was nice but interior is not so good.Has 123000 on it. e24mpwr 05-11-2007, 08:51 PM Thats what I thought. Its on a car lot for $2500.I called the guy he said the body was nice but interior is not so good.Has 123000 on it. Hmmm...if the body & mechanicals are right, I'd wonder what an interior swap would cost - Probably not as bad as you might think, though a lot of work for the dash swap. Worth checking out... I'd see how much room he has on price. mikese36 05-11-2007, 09:11 PM How does the 3.5 liter hold up?Any thing I should look for? Steve M6 05-11-2007, 09:18 PM I would be more interested in the history of the automatic transmission. If it has not been rebuilt or replaced recently, and the car has 123k miles, you could be in for an expensive repair. I think the engines will last a very long time assuming they have had reasonable care. Frequency of valve adjustments, engine oil changes, and coolant changes are important to know. Water pumps, fan clutches, idle control valves and heater control valves seem to need attention every 60k miles or so. e24mpwr 05-11-2007, 09:21 PM I would be more interested in the history of the automatic transmission. CW6er 05-27-2007, 10:17 PM Something about overrevving in neutral that burns out some seals and cause the front clutch pack to burn up. Here is the fix: http://www.bimmer.info/~rickm/trannyrepairs.htm e24mpwr 05-27-2007, 10:39 PM How does the 3.5 liter hold up?Any thing I should look for? The M30 motor in the E24/E28, etc. is one of the most durable motors ever made by BMW (I'd argue it is the top motor). Get a good PPI if you're looking at it, but the motor is unlikely to be an issue unless it has been abused/neglected. |
