View Full Version : Ready for the Track! (And Big Thanks to David)
BimmerDawg 05-11-2007, 05:26 PM Took everything out except for the radio, a/c and the PITA black sound deadening crap on the floorboard and installed Corbeau FX1 Pros and G Force Racing harnesses that I picked up from David at Harrison Motorsports:

The cage is Ahmad's old one that pretty much saved his life, so it lives on in The Green Bean! Oh yeah, another thanks to David for the free tech support in helping me out with installing these harnesses! :laugh

You copied my seats. :shifty
Looks great! Now you need to find someone with some talent to drive it.

PDWebb 05-11-2007, 06:11 PM What's involved in checking out a cage that's been in a wreck? I'm guessing a good inspection of all the welds.
Did they replace any sections of it?
M3Bill 05-11-2007, 06:13 PM :nono
Fixed.

My tech and I checked it over and all looked good. I was expecting something to be bent, but everything bolted right up with no issues. The driver's front (where the impact occurred) mounting plate sits perfectly flat on the floor, which honestly is surprising. I was fully prepared to replace that section but feel safe (definitely more so than without it!) running it on the track.
4500 RPM 05-11-2007, 08:02 PM Off topic, but your wheels are friggin' GOLD. Thought they were more of a bronze...I was wrong. Love it. :buttrock
CVGTURBO86 05-12-2007, 12:39 AM I am not a fan at all of Fixed-back seats, but I love those.

They're comfortable, but I just have to get used to the driving position with my head so close to the roll bar...it's pretty disconcerning.
keeptheuroalive 05-14-2007, 03:32 PM Thanks! :clap

At least you don't have to slouch when you wear a helmet in your car. I use the extra half inch where the sunroof is to the full extent.
dos Santos 05-14-2007, 04:02 PM Looks great! Maybe I should bring in my car for tires so I can use your loaner car again. :)

That is one think I did not like about that cage, my helmet hit it.
What brackets did you use for your seats? If you make custom ones you can mount them a lot lower to the ground.

The Corbeau brackets. I used a coupla washers to put more of a tilt back, but it's still awfully close. Plus, it doesn't help that Anna and I are both 5'7". :az

True - and you still hit?? Maybe its just the hair :devillook
I am 6'2" so my seats will be mounted very close to the floor and hopefully that helps for when a cage goes in.

Yeah, well the seat is almost up as far as it goes. I'm short and add to that the "uprightness" of the fixed buckets and I'm ~3" from the bar.

How much would it be improved in a non-sunroof car - any idea?

Hmmm, good question...I'm assuming none, unless the bar is different for a non-sunroof car, because it's still going to be in the same place regardless of if there is a sunroof or not.
