5 series and 7 series wheels are interchangeable.

You'd have to enlarge the hub bore on 7 series wheels to E39 specific 74.1mm.
Also I'm not sure how the offsets match up given certain wheel widths

thats what im thinking also because this kid had told me that these wont fit the 97-03 5 series because the 5 series has a bigger hub size

your hub diameter is larger, so unless you drill out the wheel bores NO

Remember...this applies ONLY to the e39 5 series. It is the only modern 5 series that has a 74.1mm hub. the e28/e34/e60/e61 5 series have the same 72.65mm hub as all other 6/7/8/Z8 BMWs (and I believe the e12 5 series has a 72.56mm hub, too)
