SkaterD55 05-09-2007, 07:35 PM 128 S through Bedford, Waltham this evening.... Black Camaro Z28, no tints. That's no good. I use 128, Rt. 3 everday. I have seen the undercover charger, but a wrx? - that's disturbing. StealthBM 05-09-2007, 07:59 PM Thanks for the heads up. :mad Yeap I have seen local town polices using Charger now! Never seen an undercover wrx yet? :confused Vanilla Gorilla 05-09-2007, 09:20 PM 495 has an undercover green MGB with limo tints and a screamer of a muffler Kevin E21 05-09-2007, 11:59 PM A local Peabody cop has a Black on Black on Black charger. Looks pretty badass if I must say so myself. tsylatac 05-10-2007, 07:31 AM Weston has the Chargers, too. Don't know if it was a cop or a roadworker but there was some official on the onramp between Rt20 and 128 last night who appeared to be on a walkie talkie. The blacked out Range Rover behind me and I took it pretty slow (lots of traffic helped) for the rest of the trip. 99E36M 05-10-2007, 09:05 AM I've got you all beat, I saw a car pulled over by a ...... pickup truck! I saw him on 95 in Peabody. It was a black truck, I completely missed what kind but it was a full size. I was so shocked when I saw flashing lights and a statey standing at the window of a car he pulled over. They are going CRAZY with UCs! That's not cool :( Bolidoendiablad 05-10-2007, 10:10 AM 128 S through Bedford, Waltham this evening.... Black Camaro Z28, no tints. I thought the Camaro was in I 84 in CT...??!! Can't believe they're using WRX's...WTF:mad I usually drive on I 95 between Newton/ Waltham to Peabody ...they're hidden everywhere...specially in the gas station nearby RT 2... I need a V1 FTW!!! chris 335I 05-10-2007, 10:41 AM I drive 128/95, Pike and 495 all the time, I always have my eyes open for something that looks a bit off... i.e. something with dark tints and antennas... I see a lot of UC on the roads. Some are pretty obvious, some are not. The State Police Chargers threw me off. Saw one on a shoulder on 95 and had no idea it was a cop until I got close, but if I see something on the side of the road, I will slow down or when I get near some bridges... The V1 is always on, but the cops do not use radar as much as they did... A few times I have been painted by Laser. But I saw the brakelights up ahead, so I knew to slow down... Sigh... savage217 05-10-2007, 10:49 AM Im scared to pass cars now, thats how stealth the staties are. Chris335i, I thought the v1's picjked up laser too? tsylatac 05-10-2007, 11:11 AM Chris335i, I thought the v1's picjked up laser too? They do but it hardly matters. When your laser warning goes off, it basically letting you know that you've already gotten a ticket. I've definitely learned to slow down since I've moved to this ridiculous state. Local Chargers love the 1) farmer's market stand in Weston and 2) right next to Patriot Automotive in Sudbury, both on Route 20 , FYI. Usually a lot of traffic there so not a problem but I see a car pulled over at least once a week in those spots. Keep your eyes open out there! Post more spots to watch out for, too Itsablurr 05-10-2007, 11:32 AM Rt 2 towards boston inside the 95 belt, there's been a statie shooting from one of the overpasses a few times, Rt 3 N right when you get on it from 95N Rt 3 S hidden behind concrete barriers right at the rt 62 exit... (they've been at this one A LOT lately mgthompson 05-10-2007, 12:02 PM I have seen an unmarked dark blue Charger in Rhode Island on I-95. Mass Pike exit 17 westbound (Newton corner) hidden behind the columms or on the grass before the Sheraton hotel, waiting for you "cruising" at 80 or 90 mph, on your way home.( afternoon and evenings). I guess we need something better than a V1 ....:shifty Also noticed more cars with that black and blue stripe sticker on the back, sotimes they're cops... I've seen ricers on a 20 inch drop rotten gold honda with that "cop sticker"...soooo funny shadyduk1979 05-10-2007, 02:41 PM WTF serious? I think it was an 80's model, obviously early 80's because I think they stopped making them around 82ish. It was a bad ass UC. RedStar24O 05-10-2007, 09:29 PM no way thy would use a MGB.... ive seen abouut a dozen chargers most of them unbadged. m3saloon 05-10-2007, 09:51 PM what thats what them black and blue striped stikers mean??? i've never payed any attention to them haha Itsablurr 05-10-2007, 11:44 PM what thats what them black and blue striped stikers mean??? i've never payed any attention to them haha a black plate with a single horizontal blue stripe is the signature of law enforcement Kevin E21 05-11-2007, 12:25 AM I hate that bullshit. FredK 05-11-2007, 08:03 AM what thats what them black and blue striped stikers mean??? i've never payed any attention to them haha No, those stickers are just bullshit. They don't mean undercover, they don't even mean the driver is a crossing guard or a meter maid. Originally when just a few people had them, they were a way to identify that the owner of the vehicle was in law enforcement or a family member of a law enforcement officer. It might have been a handy way to get out of a ticket out of professional courtesy. Now, EVERYBODY has them. They now mean nothing. You won't get out of a ticket. Vanilla Gorilla 05-11-2007, 08:12 AM Your right Ben I'm a liar. I didn't see a green MGB with police lights and a statie pulling somebody over. I drive down 495 at least twice every day. I know what I'm talking about. 99E36M 05-11-2007, 08:15 AM Thin Blue Line That's what they are called. If you have one on your car and you aren't a cop or a direct family member you will get royally F'ed in the B. It is just like the fire fighter's sheild sticker, or a freakin Patriots sticker...it is just a sign of the brotherhood of cops. My father is a cop and I still dislike speed traps, but in the end they are really just trying to slow people down so that they don't kill others. It has become a money maker but the objective is still the same...just don't be an idiot. You should be paying attention while driving, so noticing a speed trap is part of that. Either get better at figuring it out or slow down...or get speeding tickets :) FredK 05-11-2007, 08:25 AM Yep, but the sheer number of TBL stickers I see, all of them clearly can't be cops or related to one. How about the retards that get Crown Vics and mount up 35 Radio Shack ham antennas on the back of their cars. You're not fooling anyone! I understand the job that the cops have to do. Sometimes it's just to remain visible, sometimes it's to pull aggressive drivers over. Bolidoendiablad 05-11-2007, 09:27 AM Thin Blue Line That's what they are called. I went to renew my license two weeks ago. Right next to me, there was this 120 years old lady with one inch thick glasses trying to see where she had to put her nose to be able to guess the letters and colors. She was with another 100+ y.o. girlfriend...everybody around was looking at each other's face and laughing...but she got her license. Just to go outside and drive her crown victoria at 40 mph on the fast lane, ready to cut you off while passing her on the right. If accident occurs, they'll blame on the agressive guy driving his sport car. Don't get me wrong, I love my grandmother, but I wouldn't let her play with cars no more. While here cops are eager to pull someone doing 62 on a 55 mph zone, other places let people drive at 100+ mph having a lower accident rate. Lots of nonsense.:) +1 I don't think it is so much speed as people just doing stupid things while driving. Every day I have at least one close call. Either someone rolls a stop sign, cuts me off with no blinker, or tail gates me when I'm already going 5 or 10 over through the center of town. I never see anyone get pulled over for this stuff. ...but if I wanna go 80mph on 95 at 11pm when there is no traffic, if I blow by a cop he is sure as hell going to pull me over. ..and another thing. I hate the fact that sometimes they decide they are going to "crack down" on speeding. On a holiday weekend. It's to generate revenue, not to keep anyone safe. I was pulled over for 83 in 55 on Rte. 2 on Forth of July weekend last year. I wasn't even going that fast, and there was no traffic at all. I was not hurting anyone. 55mph on that section of Rte. 2 around Gardner, MA is rediculously slow. Just a small light bar in the windshield, I was like WTF? and did you guys hear what the Milford cops have now???.....yep you guessed it dicks in their asses. hahaha shadyduk1979 05-12-2007, 04:45 PM and did you guys hear what the Milford cops have now???.....yep you guessed it dicks in their asses. hahaha :rofl 525iT_Feen 05-13-2007, 07:12 AM There driving Dodge Hemi 1500's in and around Boston on 128/93/95... I've actually been nicked by that CT State Trooper in the Camaro! I'd go by him many mornings on my way to work, never had a problem because I knew where he'd be. Out on my bike with 6 friends one day, we were wicking it up on SR190 when I went by him turning around in a dirt lot by I-84. Ouch. I didn't recognize the car as I was going by him rather "briskly". He worked his way up to me, the ride leader, passing me mates. Two of them peeled off and reversed direction after he passed them. Me and the others pulled over and got presented with a momento. One of my pals was visiting from Germany, so that was a real special one for him. And...I had my V1 one. Never lit up, because he didn't need to zing us with it, following 6 bikes that went by him at about 80 on a 45mph road was "estimate" enough. m3saloon 05-13-2007, 07:00 PM cops give bullshit tickets, 2 am after driving 4+ hrs to NJ to drop someone off and then just turn around and come home.. well the way there was 90+mph down 290 to 95 over gw and ext.. on the way home at 2am afteer racing everymother fuckin in a ugly civic in newyork i decide to set curse at 85mph to just curse home.. passing cops every idk 40-50 miles or so not saying a thing.. well when no cars are on the road except for ME i get bagged by a cop hiding on the back side of a off ramp only 20 or so min from my house.. i'm like you've gotta be fuckin kidding me.. He said "i'll cut you a break this time son" i look at the ticket 300fuckin dollars for 85 in a 65. i'm like are you fucking kidding me you douchebag motherfucker. tsylatac 05-14-2007, 08:15 AM A heads up from the motorists.org page: "HEAVY TICKETING PERIODS FOR 2007: May 14 - June 3, 2007 July 2 - 15, 2007 August 17 - September 3, 2007 With an additional $2,200,000 grant available for overtime enforcement, the intent of each patrol during these periods is to generate a minimum of three documented stops per hour!" They should be pulling people over who are driving dangerously because they are endangering others, not because they have a quota to meet. I take a back road through Dover and a few other tows, and most mornings there is a radar trap (sometimes 2) on the way. the V1 tips me off, but you can't go too fast with traffic... What Pi$$s me off is a lot of cops I know speed on and off duty... millertimebmw03 05-15-2007, 11:29 AM You know they may not be under cover, I know state troopers can pull you over in there own car (some have lights built-in to there personal cars) if they see you doing something wrong. m3saloon 05-15-2007, 06:16 PM thats so bullshit eather way.. its funny how they say prefonishal curdiacy cant be done anymore b/c of the way things are run.. complete bullshit. In MA, I know of one muni department that won't even bother showing the badge because their asshole department has burned several MSP and a crime lab tech whose father was killed in the line of duty. And I have been pulled over for 84 in a 30 zone and waved off. It's all about relations and not being a dick. Even as a civilian, just being compliant and following the golden rules (interior lights on, engine off, hands above the wheel palms up) will get you more breaks than you'd think. Effecting a stop on a motor vehicle is one of the most dangerous things a law enforcement officer has to do, and the easier you make it on them, the easier they will make it on you, even if it's dropping the speed on the citation. marcello7x 05-17-2007, 11:08 AM 93 south coming from nh i see at least one car pulled over between 459 - 95. Its funny i always expect to see some punk that was speeding and switching in between lane to pass traffic. But it never is. Its usually in more of a beater car as well. Some how I've managed to not get pulled over on 93 yet, and i don't drive under 75. I think i get away with it cause of my car tho, 99 Chrysler lhs. One particular time at about 7:45 on 93N i got cut off buy some chick that basically got in front of me and slowed down. No room to pass so i kept the distance that she cut me off at, about 100yrds down after in exit i see the cop just eye me as we go by, i might as well have made eye contact and waved. Traffic was a little thick so he didn't even bother. My conclusion is that cops DO look for speed and recklessness, however I think that they are looking in the wrong places. I have had the honor to drive on the autobahn a few years ago (In a kia yoo-hoo). On the autobahn there are rules of the road...simply put, you DO NOT TRAVEL IN THE FAST LANE. Everyone follows this rule. As soon as you pass, ya move over...take too much time and you got a benzo or bimmer riding up your bum with lights all a tinkywink. Because everyone follows the rules of the road, you are able to drive at break-neck speeds for miles on end. Here the rules are the same but they are not enforced. Because all sorts of dummies feel that it is there god-given right to bung up the fast lane (despite persistent flashes and honks on the horn), their very unsafe driving behavior pushes motorist into passing on the right, weaving in and out of traffic. Weaving in and out of traffic is not safe by any stretch, but come on...Johnny Mustache needs to start nailing ALL unsafe drivers, not just those who speed. Once order is established (like on the autobahn) then perhaps speed limit restrictions may be relaxed. BealeAss 05-22-2007, 10:03 AM This state sucks for cops, at least in NY they tend to leave the radar on at all times so the V1 is spectacular. Yeap. Definitely will stop a sports car before they stop an average car. I was a victim of this over thanks giving weekend last year. I was traveling with the traffic at around 80. My laser went off so I slowed down as everyone around me did. Then I see the undercover state cop on the side turning his lights to come out. And sure enough he stops me. But luckily I didn't get a ticket. He told me he only stopped me to see what radar detector he beat with his laser gun. Then proceeded to tell me that he only stopped me because I stuck out like a sour thumb and the fact that I was in a BMW. He said he would have stopped a sport car (corvette he said specifically) before an average car. He chatted with me for almost 20 minutes but I didn’t care as he wasn’t giving me ticket. Note: he also said that the only thing that he has seen beat his laser gun was those laser jammers. I was always skeptical about those thought they didn't work. But after hearing it come from someone behind a laser gun thought it might be time to invest in one. StealthBM 05-22-2007, 01:26 PM Just like someone posted earlier there are staties out everywhere on Mass Pike and 93 especially for the long weekend. Saw them pulling like 3-4 cars at a time. :mad Our bimmers stand out all the time so becareful. chris 335I 05-22-2007, 01:34 PM I often think to myself about the state of driving affairs here on the east coast (or west coast for that matter). BUT if traffic is backed up, jut stay in your lane!!!!! Why is it that the state (Mass) took down all the 'slower traffic keep right" signs from the highway? Also, I thought it was common knowledge that flashing your lights, meant "please move over I'd like to pass you" and not, "please slam on your breaks or otherwise slow me won further" People are stupid, inconsiderate and passive aggressive (if not aggressive). If someone is coming up fast on me, I’ll move over. It’s no big deal… BealeAss 05-22-2007, 02:59 PM But after hearing it come from someone behind a laser gun thought it might be time to invest in one. They absolutely do work, a friend will be testing his out all summer and if it works I'll be sure to tell you b/c you can bet your ass we are all buying them. 99E36M 05-25-2007, 09:20 AM i'll give em a hard stare and mouth "pig" with a sneer. ;) chris- any luck picking up a bimmer? The mental image on this almost made me snort coffee onto my desk! rofl! bmwsmurf 05-27-2007, 01:43 AM For you fellow Mass drivers, the tickets really affect your insurance rates badly. Isn't there some rule that says you don't have to stop when being pursued by an 'undercover' car? There are some serious safety concerns as any jacka*s can buy a flashing light and pull you over and pull a gun on you. You are allowed to call and report an unmarked trying to pull you over and they will verify and send a marked cruiser to backup and then you pull over. Doing this, however, will likely aggrivate the unmarked officer and surely guarantee you your ticket rather than some possible leniency. I know that was a law in NYS, but also in NYS troopers had to be visible and usually not undercover. It was stated that you didn't have to pull over until you felt comfortable aka a more public place as there were a few instances of jackings and even girls on off beat roads getting abused/raped etc... |
