View Full Version : New car at Vines :(

So I sold what's left of my car to Vines Auto today. There was just too much wrong with it. Front end damage, rear suspension mystery gremlins (clunks), a clunk in the steering rack, broken turn stalk, broken reclining gear, and a thousand other things that were keeping it from selling for a decent price in the open market. I'm just done with this car now. I've washed my hands of it. I don't care if it's money wasted, but it and all of the mods on it are the property of Vine's now.

So if anybody wants:

Active Autowerke catback
UUC underdrive pullies
X-brace
JL Audio Stealthboxes
JL Audio 300/4 amp
Other misc. audio (eclipse headunit, old mb quarts, etc)
JC Chip
Sedan M moldings

then go on by and work it out with Ron or somebody else. It's been a wild ride, but I'm glad to have that money pit gone. I'll get another BMW some day, but for now I'm just going to enjoy my Civic :help

I wonder how much the exhaust would be...

Out of curiosity, what did Vines give you for it?

I'm emailing Martin now about the X-brace.

Dam, you should have dropped it off at my place 10 minutes from them for a part out in the garage.

I'd really rather not say beyond that the price was about, if only a little less than what the car would fetch in the open market. Only difference is that Vine's bought it up in one day instead of the car just sitting around for weeks.

Exhaust would probably be $200-400.
Sorry, no aftermarket headers.

I just got off the phone with them, they want $400 for the exahust so I'm out unless someone wants my Borla for $350. Mitch said there is a scuff on the underside of the tips.
Martin told me "these exhaust go for like $650+ new, and I've been getting allot of calls about the car for parts" so it looks like no great deals to be had here. I'll go by in a couple weeks and see what they have left, thats when they'll get cheap unless they put it on ebay.

Sorry to continue the OT - one of my good friends is a game collector, mostly old 8-bit console stuff, but he has a couple of (working) cabinets and may know where to get a dead one. Are you going to put a console like a PS2 inside, or make a MAME cab?

Yeah, that's what they quoted me too.

I put a deposit on the X-brace, will try to pick it up on Friday.

Oh man, I hate you. If you don't get it, let me know. I'll go pick it up at lunchtime tomorrow. I may go down there anyways and see what they want for the ECU and other bits.

I'm glad you guys are making use of these parts :)

I have an Active Autowerke strut bar for sale (too easy not to take off before selling car). If anybody wants it, let me know. Small scratches with a two inch long blemish on the edge of the bar towards the middle (visible, but it's never bothered me). I'm in Birmingham all week. I'll say $120 o.b.o. with a strong emphasis on the o.b.o. ;)

Other leftover e36 parts:

stock sedan moldings
broken zkws (projectors and ccfl angle eyes still in good condition, brackets and outer glass broken)
clear corners for sedan, front left corner's pin is broken
stock center front bumper trim w/plate bracket w/bmw roundel on black plate mounted
[///M3] side molding inserts

I would have to make a trip to my apartment to pick up any of these.

CCFLs work. One side needs soldering on one of the connections, but the other side works perfectly. I'll make a post in this thread when I'll be able to bring everything back. Should be around the 19th.

there are pleanty of good deals to be had at Vines. madsedan, if you want the exhaust, call me and make an offer. if anyone else wants any of these parts call me with a reasonable offer and it's yours. the car also has some nice 17" wheels and tires if anyone is interested.

Hey Martin, are they M-contour rims? If so, I'd love to have a look at the rears. I might swing down there tomorrow around lunch and take a peek at the car, see if there's any parts I can use.

Matt - let me know if he has any empty cabinets...I'm good with electronics (soldering, wiring, etc) but not with wood working.
I'm debating on using my old PS2 if I can get the old classic games (Galaga, Pacman) or use a PC (run a ROM emulator) or MAME software...

The problem with my PS2 is that it doesn't read blue discs and I've already aligned the laser several times already. I thought about putting a hard drive in the PS2 but haven't had much time. I've got tons of spare PCs that I can use.

Best route is probably MAME since I don't have to physically swap out an actual disc (if I were to use the PS2).

I've read how to build one online and I have access to all tools to build the actual cabinet but my skills is lacking in that area...(granted I did the hardwood flooring myself)...I just don't think I can do a precise/fine cut on the side cab which consists of some round/semi-circular edges...

Enough rambling...lemme know about empty cabs..thanks !!!

I just lost ANOTHER corner light while going down the interstate. :mad

I guess I'll definitely be picking those clears up ASAP.

EDIT: anyone else got a light I can use in the meantime? Mitch, you said you should be back the 19th?

Hope to get that crap installed on Saturday; took a picture of Hank's car while it was on the lift at Munic-sport so I can see how it goes on.

THink there's one up the street from me - house is up for sale/rent and they threw what looks to be one out by the side of the road for the trash men to get. You want me to check it this afternoon assuming it's still there?
