I would like to get the battery out of the engine compartment and move it to the trunk. Anyone ever done this? Tips? Concerns?

I plan on doing this to accomodate the V12, though I have not determined how to do so. I am also interested if anyone has done so. Pics would be wonderful.

Used to do it all the time. Back in the 80's I would dig around in the junk yards and pull battery cables out of Audi 5000s (I think that is what I pulled them from). The rear seat mounted cable would allow relocation of the batteries on the 320 and 2002; I never tried to relocate the battery on my 6ers. If you are going to buy new cable, think about using welding cable because it is typically finer strand wire which makes it easily contoured to run to the rear. Most battery cable is very stiff and can be difficult to work with. Also make sure the battery is properly vented. The e34 cars use a battery that is ideal for this and most companies will have replacements for these cars that include the vent hose.

The kit in the pictures is from summit racing i think. Good kit, the guy had to remove the fuel tank as shown to mount the kit in the spot he wanted.

I remember working on an audi this summer, i forget if it was a 5000 or not, looked relatively new, early 90s. They asked me to charge the battery and i couldnt find it. They forgot to tell me it was under the rear seats! That is there, along with the ECU it looked like, and the car was full of water. Seemed like a bad place for an ECU if the car is gonna flood. Thats definitely a good idea to get that kit for it, i was thinking of looking for an M6 one, but an audi is easier to find.
