I called the guy and spoke to him. He has pictures of the M3 on Craigslist Honolulu. It's green with tan interior. It also looks like he is selling an E60 M5, too. Anybody get any more information? The Beastmaster 05-03-2007, 11:43 PM He'll take $43k for the E39. vexed 05-04-2007, 01:51 AM He'll take $43k for the E39. He started at 46.5K and dropped to 44. Is it still under warranty? Does anyone know why he is selling that and brand new 2007 M5? bgrpph 05-04-2007, 02:37 AM Long post sorry -I looked/drove this E-39 M5 -Nice car, full tan leather, <15K miles, new PS tires, i didn't care for oxford green color & paint had lots of swirls from being detailed by retailer he used regularly -few minor flaws -it had just come from BMW wash -said he didn't take care of cars but did this one. Said he also had Z8, made no mention E-60 M5, needs room-wanted it out of garage- -he told me fac warr expired in Aug- checked with BMW it expires in June - I priced ext warr from dealer but aftermarket co (API) refused as needed 90 days left on fac warr- dealer agreed to offer owner a one day only deal to buy ext warranty- owner tired to get me to buy it- told him i didn't own car yet & didn't like this one day thing or pressure to buy warr now- he then bought ext warranty from dealer- then next day, i read on line that API is out of business- he called dealer they denied it- I didn't like this and told him i wasn't going thru with purchase. He got his $ back from dealer for warr & offered me car for $42k - decided it wasn't for me. When I went to credit union re financing- they checked & said registration had expired 7/06- indeed it had- also wondered about buying car from indiv who dind't know registration expired 10 mo. ago. Decided i'd rather buy M5 with more miles but some warranty than very low miles but no warranty. Car can definitely be had for $42 probably $40.5 or $41- Barry norgeiron 05-04-2007, 03:20 AM I don't know...something doesn't sound right about this, and in my opinion caution is advised. dchen 05-04-2007, 03:39 AM There are very few oxford green/full leather tan 03 M5 around. I think I test drove this car back in 04. The car was used by a west coast BMW exec and was shipped to BMW of Honolulu sometime in June or July of 04, according to BMW of Honolulu. I remember test driving the car when it had 1400 mi. Didn't buy it because the dealer still wanted MSRP for it at that time. I always wondered if it was a BMW driving school car. :confused vexed 05-04-2007, 02:08 PM Long post sorry -I looked/drove this E-39 M5 -Nice car, full tan leather, <15K miles, new PS tires, i didn't care for oxford green color & paint had lots of swirls from being detailed by retailer he used regularly -few minor flaws -it had just come from BMW wash -said he didn't take care of cars but did this one. I wonder if he can still buy the bmw original owners extension from twinkidney.com Did anyone check the service history? norgeiron 05-04-2007, 03:41 PM There are very few oxford green/full leather tan 03 M5 around. Hmmmm... bgrpph 05-04-2007, 05:05 PM Dealer said only orig owner can purchase BMW ext warr according to dealer- it's ridiculously expensive like $4.5K for 6yr, 60k mile- must be done to protect price of their CPO for sale. He also told me he was original owner- probably technically correct if car was never titled but used by West Coast BMW then shipped here. vexed 05-04-2007, 10:49 PM Dealer said only orig owner can purchase BMW ext warr according to dealer- it's ridiculously expensive like $4.5K for 6yr, 60k mile- must be done to protect price of their CPO for sale. The cost:cool http://www.twinkidneygrill.com/Home.html ronin009 05-05-2007, 12:29 AM You can purchase an extended warranty from any dealership, call around and find the best price. I have seen as low as $2000. vexed 05-18-2007, 10:38 PM Bump I just emailed the seller, I noticed he had taken the ad out of the advertiser but it is still on C/L. I asked about the 4/50 warranty and he replied good until August 07 which is different from prior info. For anyone who saw/drove it any comments? Does anyone have the VIN? I suspect from the prior posts he has let the registration expire, and I wonder about the safety check.:shifty bgrpph 05-19-2007, 05:45 PM believe safety check is valid- when i checked with dealer they said warranty expires June 07 - VIN is WBSDE9342CF93784- registration lapsed mid 2006 when i was looking at car- believe owner renewed it when i told him that it had expired long while ago. vexed 05-19-2007, 05:51 PM believe safety check is valid- when i checked with dealer they said warranty expires June 07 - VIN is WBSDE9342CF93784- registration lapsed mid 2006 when i was looking at car- believe owner renewed it when i told him that it had expired long while ago. Mahalo Plenty:buttrock Any thoughts on the car. I need an M5 like:eyecrazy but have not warmed up to the E60 and I fear the E90 is too small as a kid hauler. vexed 05-20-2007, 02:21 AM The VIN is missing a digit, can anyone help? Thanks bgrpph 05-20-2007, 07:54 PM sorry VIN is WBSDE93423CF93784 (6th digit is either 9 or Q- can't read writing) sirtiger 05-20-2007, 07:58 PM amazing the crap u can find out on the forums/net 97M3SDN 05-20-2007, 08:49 PM I know you want an M5 and that they are rare but from the half truths or lies I would be very worried about the car. Especially since he has this car on the market for quite a while. I would check thru cars.com and find one at a mainland dealership, better deals there then here IMO. Even with the entire VIN and a carfax it still doesn't tell you everything about the car...only the owner can do that and the way that he is behaving I have my doubts. vexed 05-20-2007, 11:13 PM I know you want an M5 and that they are rare but from the half truths or lies I would be very worried about the car. It's one option when my lease is up. His last email to me boasted that he had turned down many offers and does not need to sell it. I don't need to buy it, I can play that game too. He did tell me the car is now parked at his office, I think with his new M5 he ran out of space. Thanks for the caution, I am in no rush. P.S. Seller emailed me the VIN and it is the same. 97M3SDN 05-21-2007, 04:59 AM The biggest problem which scares me on this guy is that he let his reg expire that means he wasn't even checking his car or doesn't know much about cars but drive them. If a guy was into Bimmers like this guy is you would think he would be a BMWCCA member and be here to findout more about cars. vexed 05-21-2007, 02:02 PM The biggest problem which scares me on this guy is that he let his reg expire that means he wasn't even checking his car or doesn't know much about cars but drive them. If a guy was into Bimmers like this guy is you would think he would be a BMWCCA member and be here to findout more about cars. He does not seem to be a gear head. In fact from his email I figured out who he is:eek: Just talked to BMWUSA, warranty expires 6/19/07 so he is off on that. Looks like he did not buy the car until 2004. 97M3SDN 05-21-2007, 02:33 PM So he did lie about being the original owner? Damn pity such a nice car only to have an idiot owner. The car needs a good owner who knows BMWs but it spooky not knowing what this guy did to the car. vexed 05-21-2007, 02:56 PM So he did lie about being the original owner? But the in service date is June 2003. Another poster mentioned they thought this was a Factory car, or driven by someone from BMWNA. vexed 05-26-2007, 08:45 PM *Bump* I drove it today. It was nice, very good condition for a 4 year old car. Because he has not driven it in a while it made a real racket so we drove it to BMW:confused It was just the fact that it had not been driven, the noise went away. I found the steering not as direct as my 530, rack & Pinion vs. recirculating ball. The color does not bother me. He admitted he wants to sell it but claims he has turned down 40K from BMW:stickoutt I know that is not true. He does have a new E60 M5, I got a short ride in that.:cool I am on the fence. I did not notice the M emblem on the engine was damaged, not sure from what. Then I drove a new E60 550i at BMW, lots of grunt. |
