Just a question, since I don't know enough about it...

I moved into Edgewater a couple of months ago.

Looking to get a car here in the next week or so.

Looking at picking something in NY probably (narrowing down the list).

What would I need to do to get the car inspected and licensed?

I was at Lodi DMV to get my out of state drivers license changed a month or so ago...does the inspection have to happen before you bring it there?

I am really lost on this....I am looking at a 2005/2006 car, so there shouldn't be any mechanical issues at all..

thanks for the help in advance.

Well In NY you don't have to have it inspected to register it if that is what you mean. The DMV will give you a 10 day inspection deadline which you can tape to your wind shield.

I am living in NJ, and will register it in NJ, but will likely purchase from a dealer in NY....thus wondering how to go about getting the inspection done, since obviously the NY dealer wouldn't give two hoots about it.

If you buy it from a NY Dealer, they should get you NJ plates. Once you have NJ Registration and Insurance card, take it to any inspection place for your sticker.

You do not need an NJ license, but you must show a license.
