I ran my gas tank down to 5 miles remaining (the needle was almost on 0) and upon filling the tank as full as I could, only 13.2 gallons could be added. The manual says the tank holds 14.5 gallons. Are there really 1.3 gallons left in the tank?

Don't use the OBC as a guage as to how much fuel you have left ... it is an approximation based on your average miles per gallon. When the yellow light comes on, it means you have two gallons left in the tank. YMMV.

the pump at the station is not accurate. it can be 2 gallons off, even. I got 40 mpg in my M...according to the pump...hahaha
its your choice whether you want to top off. i dont, because i really just dont care.

I find my Zed is pretty consistent. My manual says that it can hold 55 litres. When my light comes on, I can fill up 45 litres. So there're about 10 litres left when the light comes on. Convert that to gallons for you yanks out there.
I wouldn't let your gas drop too low though. 10 litres for my Acura will allow me to travel 140 km. 10 litres for the Zed will give me about 60-100 km depending on city/highway driving.
Most things I've read suggest NOT topping off your gas tank when you fill because it causes gas to spill. You actually waste gas and reduce your mileage that way. So once it stops filling, put that pump away!

Pump should be accurate otherwise you fill your car from criminals. I had impression that tank capacity 13.5 gal. However it considers 1 gal reserve not shown by a meter. Small fuel tank is my major complain to Z. I have to re-fill it every 300 miles. I used to do that every 400 miles when drove Mercedes.

im talking about calculating it the old fashioned way, at the pump....to prove a point. pumps arent accurate at telling you when your tank is full (they are all different too) and they certainly arent always accurate at telling you how much gas you've bought (though it always overestimates for some reason.....)

Actually you can overfill at the pump, just keep trying. Anyway, I wish to have tank a bit bigger. I also like computer at my Mercedes telling not only left miles but left gas.

You shouldn't overfill you gas tank because gas expands. If you fill it to the brim, when the gas gets hot, it expands and will run out of your gas tank... wasted fuel and fire hazard. Gas stations are supposed to keep the fuel at an approximate 70 degrees F. Put it into a car and on a 100 degree day as soon as it gets up to temp you'll have fuel all over the place waiting for one person to walk by with a lit cigarette and boom.

Ha... I have to pump gas every 170-180 miles.

Sorry, but that's just plain BS.
Pumps are calibrated & regulated by weights and measure authorities.
They may not all click off the same, or fill the same;
but if the pump shows 12.6 gal... that's what you have.
Otherwise, like ^above^ you're buying from crooks.
