I got this email from a coworker:

I just got a phone call that the state cops are all over the turnpike and parkway busting people for everything from cell phone to seat belt tickets to speeding. Apparently, other states are making fun of NJ state police because of the whole incident with the governor so they are trying to "crack down" on traffic safety.
Be careful on the ride home :)

+ one billion on this comment. I'm tired of seeing Mom's in massive SUVs bullshitting on their cell phones. It's time these idiots get what they deserve. And as for the seatbelts, it really is a given. Click'it or ticket BIIAATTCCHHH!!!

I wonder what was up today. Couldn't have been only in NJ. I saw a LOT more cops on the road today in both RI and CT.

no sir....definately not a tree hugger........................and i definately don't drive 100% within the law, but me speeding with my full attention on the road is alot safer than me speeding while I chit chat with you on the phone, wouldn't you agree?? you might be able to still drive and talk on the phone, but not everyone can.... I'm tired of seeing people wandering from lane to lane, and make sudden turns cutting people off with no signal, only to see that they're on their cell phones, and obviously the conversation is more important than their own safety and the safety of the driver in the M3 they just cutoff as it was trying to get past them...see my point?

it's the begining of the month-they're usually out in full force for two weeks, but i think they're going to be out heavy this whole month until three week in june after the holidays. Slow down! New Jersey will rape you in fines.

i definitely see your point, especially being a motorcycle rider in the tristate area. but most of the idiots on their cell phone don't neccessarily speed they just drive bad. and we ALL talk on our cell phones in the car. do we all suck at driving while on the phone, probably but cell phones and communication are a part of life now. do i think a long meaningless convo should be had while driving, no. but business and other things can have importance for a short conversation. i do not like almost dieing at the hands of these people but it isn't going to stop and we all do it so just try to drive a hair more on the defensive. plus the fact that most people who drive like ass are not on a cell phone. i have been cut off and almost hit several times when the person was not speeding nor on a cell phone.

+1, you guys all need to stop being so paranoid, its alway the same thing in the beginning and end of the month, lots and lots of cops out to fill their quotas. I saw ONE cop today on the way to school, GSP exits 130-145, usually there are none.

+ a million. plus it sort of tricky trying to shift while your on the phone( for those manual drivers) its a lot of the god dam soccer moms you have to watch out for... they dont care about anything, or anyone except the other person on the other end of the phone.

In New Jersey, Police dont have a quota...and they dont have to get any tickets at all...Ecspecially State police. But they probably will be cracking down mainly cause NJSP > Life.
