Goat128 04-30-2007, 07:48 PM Big mod for me, I just put some H&R springs on. So far I love them!

I heard if you put a m5 spring pad you can get a tad lower?
kesslerbmw 04-30-2007, 07:51 PM Let it settle.. Drive it for a while and it will settle and sit lower.
Alpine535i 04-30-2007, 07:54 PM Nice, change the shox too? Where did you buy them? This may I'm thinking of getting wheels and lowering the front. How is the ride?
RVAE34 04-30-2007, 07:55 PM They could always be lower. As Kessler stated, let it settle. If you don't like that, then go with vogtlands. Or just fill your trunk and engine bay with concrete :)

no i didnt do the shocks. I bought them locally off another member... low miles. the ride and handling is great.
If you don't like that, then go with vogtlands.
Vogtlands are for 6 cyl only.. so I dont think the v8 would like it too much, but you never know i guess?
kesslerbmw 04-30-2007, 08:04 PM After 20k miles or so...

Goat128 04-30-2007, 08:10 PM wow thats pretty cool.. looks like it will take a little while to settle.
It will take some time to settle. yes, you can also get smaller (or cut) the pads.. just do that when you replace your shocks.. let them settle first and see how you like it then.
Jcbe34 04-30-2007, 08:21 PM Yeah let it settle, it will come down a little more. But yes m5 spring pad lowers you 6mm more and schmiedmann.com sells spring hats that lower you 10mm more. I think bekkers used to sell some too.
BTW, vogtlands are for 6 cyldinders only. soft progressive spring rate + extra weight = problems
Analog 04-30-2007, 08:39 PM But yes m5 spring pad lowers you 6mm
I heard 15mm....
SC David 04-30-2007, 09:03 PM Looks good. Like others said, they will settle and look even better.
boone.msi 04-30-2007, 09:12 PM Yeah let it settle, it will come down a little more. But yes m5 spring pad lowers you 6mm more and schmiedmann.com sells spring hats that lower you 10mm more. I think bekkers used to sell some too.
Nice, i was just thinking about how i wish mine was a little lower, il put those on when i buy my koni's. Any chance going from bilstein sports to koni will drop it down any?(talking minimal here)
I run eibach's with the m5 spring pads, its descent but i like the vogtland look.
Jcbe34 04-30-2007, 09:50 PM Go to schmiedmann.com... mel @abrahams can get it all. They have linear spring kits for V8 cars, I've already ordered the Lowtec 60/30mm kit. They are supposed to be a pretty stiff linear spring rate (as opposed to the progressive rate springs such as vogtland/bav auto/eibach rears). I will have them in the next month, and will post reviews then
thats 2.3"/1.2" drop
Frost 05-01-2007, 12:42 AM Looking good, just wait for it to settle and itl get lower.
Where can you get some vogtland springs? I want a really low drop on my car and cant find any vogtland.
Roderic E34T 05-01-2007, 01:47 AM It looks great!! Much better then the X5 look it had.:D
skateparks 05-01-2007, 07:36 AM I've also heard that the e30 m3 pad is a little lower than the M5. Search for the LOWERING MY TOURING thread, it's covered there.
TC535i 05-01-2007, 02:05 PM I still can't decide what to do with my 540i... I want a nice progressive spring with a solid drop (rear tire at fender line, maybe slightly below, front fender about 1/2" to 1" above tire).
MvilleArock 05-01-2007, 04:11 PM I just bought some from: purems.com - pure motorsport like 244 shipped. I got em today so I may still be getting an email about them being on back order like I got the other day with a different supplier

Well your options with the 540i are somewhat limited. I would go with the eibachs if I were you, but I think only the rears are progressive.

Wow thanks, those are gonna be my next mod soon.

Yes, and I have some used 530 springs for sale (word has it they were removed from an X5)... :D

Wow you could actually get over a half inch of further drop with all the xtra stuff.. my plan is to wait until it settles by that time the shocks will be toast anyways and see if I need anthing else, but I dont think I will.

True, but then you got to think about the original purpose of that thick rubber and why its there in the first place. Cut down too much and your driving a sled. Im definantly up for a lower drop, but in no way would i attempt to go any lower without getting adjustable shocks to compensate for the extra vibrations/roughness of riding on thin padding.
mottati 05-01-2007, 07:36 PM Goat, car looks great, need to update that sig pic!
Kessler, always thought your car looked really nice as well. the e39 m5 wheels look good, any fitment issues?
Mike

Thanks - that will be my next project as soon as I get a camera (thanks to Raff for the first pic). Where in Cali are you - are you going to b-fest?

I'm pretty sure he's running replicas so they're probably e34 fitment, but I could be wrong.

E39 M5 wheels can be put on an E34, BUT you need a centre-ring.
The hole for the axle is for an E34 72cm and for an E39 it is 74,1cm.
