View Full Version : Is there a mufller and exhaust system heaven?
Astroboy 04-30-2007, 04:37 PM Okay, its a slow morning on the board so I will throw out this question...
I always wondered what happened to all of those mufflers and exhaust systems that come off of relatively new or brand-spanking new cars (all makes and models) and replaced with aftermarket parts. When I drive around, I see so many new cars with new aftermarket systems bolted on and think to myself that "the OEM system couldn't have rusted out already"
I always wondered what happens to the OEM parts. Could be makings for market out there selling them as slightly used...or does ESH and Barrs' just torch it off and fling it in the pile for bulky pick-up? :dunno
The Beastmaster 04-30-2007, 04:45 PM They fling 'em.

Someone's paying $25 for 'em.
You should see all the Batu heads dragging shoppong carts full of 'em.

I was afraid of that. That's sad if they do. :(
Lots of Joe Blows out there (myself included) that would buy an OEM at a significantly reduced price. Then again, I guess there aren't very many "new" systems being cut off on OLD cars like mine...hahahah
thrlls 05-01-2007, 06:25 PM I have a nice pair of quad ///M roadster/coupe mufflers sitting in my garage collecting dust and taking up space.
I never did post it for sale since I didn't think there's much interest in it knowing the few Z that are here and already have exhausts on them.
However, if someone is interested let me know.

You want my front wheels to raise off the ground!
Those cans are as large as my motor!!
97M3SDN 05-10-2007, 01:27 PM Well I have an ANSA system off of my 97 M3 Sedan lying in my garage which is pissing the wife off.
Currently running a B&B Tri-flow system which is loud.
bimbum 05-10-2007, 06:33 PM would the B&B fit a '95 M3? ifso maybe trade you for my Borla, just put it on but seems too quiet to me. impeccable fit though. I'd like to hear it either way.
The Beastmaster 05-10-2007, 06:48 PM Phil - The B&B is really loud! Even louder than that Eisenmann/Eisenhaus exhaust that was on Woody's Roady and gmhl's M3.
gmhl10 05-10-2007, 11:35 PM I'll tell you what happened to my 250 mile only stock exhaust system.
It's in my bedroom closet on the ground. haha.
97M3SDN 05-11-2007, 02:00 PM bimbum,
Unfortunately, I am running a 97 M3 Sedan making the exhaust configuration different from the coupe which you have.
Beastmaster is right the B&B is loud, real loud. I mean I like loud but it bothers my wife...:o)

I tell you what happened to my 14k mile stock exhaust system.
It's on some Toyota truck somewhere on the island! :D
bimbum 05-11-2007, 03:54 PM oh, ok. :| :p heck, I ran the car w/no catback and liked it. but I figure everyone hears the car coming home as is so need to tone down anyways.
re: old bimmer 'zorst, I traded mine for a set of floormats!
99MPower 05-11-2007, 07:12 PM the E36 catback exhaust systems on the sedan and coupe are exactly the same.. the whole wheel base is the same, and everything.... mechanically and parts speaking, the coupe/sedan are the same....
try the switch...
