The offset on the rears is et20 the fronts are et8 I still have about 3/4" left on the rears, I could go even bigger.

No rolling required, e34s can take BIG rubber with ease. There is about 3/4 of an inch clearance at the fender, like i said the et 20 allows that.

Seriously. A lot of guys seem to think 265 is the limit but that's no where close. Shoot, my 275's on a 18x9.5 (et25) don't really fill the wheel well out as much as they could (or that I would like).

I was looking for 235/40 for the front but I ended up going with 255/40 in front....simply because I cant find any T1S in that size.

265/40 in the back

when my coilovers are done this will change...235/40 front, 245/35 rear.:buttrock

I got 18x9.5 and 265/35's in the back of my touring and it fits fine, in fact the 265's are stretched on the 9.5.....definitivey could go wider tire...

They were Pzero - Yellows on my staggered BBS RX wheels 17x9 in the back. Weird thing is, I know there's plenty more room, but after they hit, I didn't want to try again. Pirellis are big for their size. I'm going to get some 18x10s and try again. Thanx

My staggered M-Pars should be here Thursday. 18 X 9 in the rear with 265 / 35s. Can't wait to get them on.

Your front tires have an offset of 8, so it would be like an ET20 tire w/ a 10mm spacer -- I guess that would be required to prevent front rubbing (18x9, ET20 would probably rub). But would 265's clear up front? I know Dinan's E39 front wheels are 18x9 (they recommend 275's up front), but I don't know the offset or whether the E39's have more space up front than E34s.

Bingo. I have yet to look inside and see whats going on but there is a ton of room outside.

The other HUGE factor to consider is how much you really need in front. I think 245/255 is plenty. Any more and you will make the tramlining and loose steering of these cars even more apparent. With the torque of the 540 you don't notice the staggered tire effect that cars like the E36's do.

255 is plenty for street use, like seth said the front end is twitchy enough as it is..

All e34's have the steering nut you can tighten dont they? My old 89 535m did.

I haven't looked on my 540 for it, but I know my 535 did. Also, the center drag link can make a big impact as well.
