View Full Version : Getting tired of being a target
f1fan99 04-30-2007, 08:53 AM Came out after work on Friday to find that someone had grabbed my pass. side wiper blade and bent it 180deg. This is in the middle of the day in a decent area of downtown Louisville. Someone also tried to pry the roundel off the hood and f'ed up the paint of my other bimmer at that same garage a couple months ago. And then this morning, I see what looks like an intentional grease spray all over the pass door.
Anyways, looks like the parking garage will cover a replacement wiper arm, I haven't really checked it out enough to make sure they didn't bend the linkage underneath, but damn, three times in three months, never had this problem once in the vette. Why is it every punk thinks every bimmer owner is someone they need to get f'in even with... farging bastages!
Smilez@EuroDyne 04-30-2007, 09:41 AM only because we are better than them, jp
sorry to hear that, yea many people whom become jealous of our rides, believing we have a good amount of cash in our back pockets not knowing this vehicles are not as expensive as they may think they are. Hope you get those minor cosmetic issues resolve soon.
betozam23 04-30-2007, 10:47 AM Unless the parking garage has a visible sign that says "not responsible for damage on vehicle", then you got a fighting case. Yeah people hate on BMW's especially if they are modded up.
f1fan99 04-30-2007, 11:09 AM Thanks for the sympathy guys, I'm not nearly as po'ed as I was Friday, I probably had steam coming out of my ears that first hour afterwards.
Looks like the garage will cover it though. fwiw, my father was a judge, and he had told me that those signs that say they are not responsible, are not necessecarily legally binding at all, example, I had a Mustang broken into at a Ford dealer's lot one time and my nice stereo/speakers were stolen. When I went to notify them of it, they pointed to the "We aren't responsible..." sign above his head, but they paid it without a fight at all. I think they are often hoping it discourages a claim, which I'm sure that it does.
Makes me wonder if anyone here has ever gotten "lucky" enough to catch an act of vandalism being perpetrated on their car, and been able to deal out some instant karma on the spot.

Reminds me of Pulp Fiction. It woulda been worth him doin' it just so I coulda cought him doin' it.
nicknoodles 04-30-2007, 11:41 AM damn man...that sux....but people really do hate on nice cars in general....nobody realizes bimmers arent all that expensive, i hear that crap all the time.."oh mister money bags" and then they feel stupid when i point out that after i bought the car, with warranty and slapped rims and others mods on it, its still much nicer and less expensive then their srt-4 neons lol...i dont care if its not the fastest(i came from a civic so its fast enuff) but if i want speed i have a crotch rocket :)
im glad the garage will cover the wiper for you, hope this crap doesnt keep happening, maybe you should start parking near a camera if there is any just in case idk
BMP Racing 04-30-2007, 12:06 PM Sorry to hear of your bad luck. I hope I don't have to go through that kind of garbage. I have seen a noticable amount of tailgating since I got my 330.

I get that all the time too. "oh, you must be rich, you drive a BMW". I don't bother telling them that my Bimmer cost me about as much as a new Kia would have.

I never tell chicks the truth though.

f1fan99 04-30-2007, 03:54 PM I do think I get hotter looking chicks/milfs checking me out in the bimmer than the vette, so +1 for the bimmer :cool
Advaqua 04-30-2007, 04:06 PM That's one benifit of having the "touring" E46. Most people see it as more of a family car (which it is, for me anyway). After 7 years, of which it has always been in a major city (lots of public parking garages, etc.) it has never been subject to vandalism (keeping fingers crossed, knocked on wood desk). Yet my bro-in-law's 330 convertible has been a target twice, just in the past year! Although I prefer the looks of the convertible, coupe, or sedan, it's nice not having to deal with that little agrivation of owning a bimmer.
EL MILITAR 05-01-2007, 01:55 PM Reading your story makes me think about the bimmer that i just got in Feb while on leave from Iraq. Damn, my heart goes out to you being stuck over there, and I want to say that I support you guys 100% and appreciate the good that your doing over there. My stuff here seems pretty inconsequential in comparison. Keep yourself safe and enjoy that kickass ride you've got when you get back!!
