the small indentation on the piston is that supposed to be for the exhaust valve ? This a 1992 535i

Guessing that is on the exhaust side of the head?? I would say yes. But Intake valves are always larger than exhaust sooo it may be Intake, never checked myself.....

I see your point I just have to be sure im guessing its going to go where the larger valve is. Thanks for the input. Anyone know for sure.

Last time I saw an M30 piston, it had two round indentations. AFAIK, intake and exhaust valves have the same amount of lift, so if the intake valve is bigger to begin with, I'd say that's the one that fits into the piston.

Hi i have a similar set from a 535i they have the little arrow pointing forward so the indent is definitley for inlet side hope this helps
