So I read on the M Registry that the M6's produced prior to June 1987 were Highline models--with leather covered door panels, center console, glovebox, etc. My M6 is a 12/86 production, so it would seem to fall into that category. However, I don't have the leather dash, but I have all the other leather bits. This description would normally fall into the Halfline models produced from 6/87 and later. Anybody else have a similar production M6 who can chime in?

My M6 is also 12/86 (#92). You should have had a leather dash. The dashes warped SO quickly that it is entirely possible that the dash had been swapped out ages ago.

Thanks! That's what I suspected. I think it's probably for the best that I no longer have the leather dash. By the way, how do you find out what production your car was? I'm wondering how close a pair of siblings our cars are!

Check out your VIN. The numbers indicate it. Mine's 2560092 :)

Thanks for the compliment on the interior. The front seats were apparently recovered a few years ago by a shop in San Diego (wish they'd have done the dash at the same time...they're likely to get my dash in the future). The shifter boot leather needs replaced, though. Sticks out like a sore thumb with everything else around it.

Still can't complain, I love the car despite what all might be wrong with it. I'm a giddy M6 owner. :D

Thanks for the VIN info. Ours is 2560332--does that mean we are #332? And is that for the month of 12/86?

Our interior needs some recovering for both front seats (we might be able to get away with restoring the leather on the passenger seat), the driver's side arm rest and the shifter boot. There's also a small tear on the sun roof liner. The rear seats and center console need a good cleaning. Thankfully, that's about if for the interior. My wife and I are also giddy M6 owners. :D
