well as the title says, what are things to watch out for when buying an X5? my mom has here eye on an 03 4.4 with 86000 mi on the clock. thats pretty high... we are going to look at it this sat. TIA

Ok to answer your question quickly I would look into the following:

CV boots. The E53 has a total of eight of them. The one that usually goes bad is your front outer driver side. Stealership carries the repair kit for around 30 bucks if no damage has been done to your drive shaft. Another thing to look at is the water pump. These tended to go bad between 50-80k miles. Hopefully the one that your looking at has a maintenance log with everything thats been replaced on it. BTW I got into my X5 with a lil over 92k with a full maintenance log. She looks and runs brand new though.

were in dallas. i talked to the guy yesterday he said he was here. thats wierd that its listed in 3 places... i asked him about the number he said he recently moved here to plano. he said he would call us back about what time we could see it this weekend.
