with 70k miles, I have considered replacing the brake rotors into an aftermarket. Any idea/advice on what kind of rotors and where to get em?

Thnx

I like the ATE power discs. Gas grooved, no holes or worries of cracking. Try Turner Motorsports.

ATEs have been good to me. The Tire Rack carries them, so do other places.

i've been having issues finding aftermarket M5 rotors for my car but was able to find some interesting info:

Turner Motorsports
E39 M5 Front Euro Floating Rotors (Front) (http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=34112228845) = $498 / pair
E39 M5 Front Euro Floating Rotors (Rear) (http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=34212228801/2) = $440 / pair

have you guys been able to find ATE for the M5? they only list them for the 540i at $165.33 (http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=34116757746PD) a pair for the front

the only aftermarket rotors I've ever seen were from Centric through Zeckhausen Racing
(http://www.zeckhausen.com/BMW/E39_M5.htm)

says they'll be available late May (which I've been waiting for since they're about half the price of OEM rotors

Plain
Front 345mm x 32mm 1-piece vented rotors - $131 Each
Rear 328mm x 20mm 1-piece vented rotors - $75 Each

Slotted
Front 345mm x 32mm 1-piece vented rotors - $155 Each
Rear 328mm x 20mm 1-piece vented rotors - $95 Each

If you have been looking around for these bad boys...these prices are REALLY good. I almost crapped myself finding out that my rotors were almost $300 EACH!!!

what's the average lifespan for the original M5 brake rotors?

what's the average lifespan for the original M5 brake rotors?

A moron can destroy a fresh set of M5 brake rotors in 2 hours on Saturday morning. They could be overdutied, heat checked, cracked & warped in 200 miles of kamikazi canyon run etc.

Grandma could use a single set for 50 years.

This question can not be answered with any certainty. I've seen factory Taurus rotors outlast oversize aftermarket BBK rotors by a factor of 50x. It's all about duty and driver.
