View Full Version : 335i owners - watch out for fuel pump failing twice lucentaz 04-23-2007, 06:23 PM Like this guy http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57950 Poor first generation car buyers. :( SocratesBMW 04-23-2007, 06:57 PM One word: Warranty Lock 'er up. bmwave 04-23-2007, 08:24 PM I think Im getting tired of these bimmer forums....can we talk about anything new...note to self...stop reading these threads! budman1 04-23-2007, 11:56 PM Oh man, don't tell me stuff like this!!! My car is still in the shop and tomorrow marks the six week mark that it's been there. It would be just my luck something like that would happen to me. It really is too bad BMW is having (or at least it seems to be having) such an issue with the 07 335i. Having the fuel pump go out was a downer, but having to wait so long for the part has strecthed the patience. I can imagine I would not keep the car long if the second fuel pump fails. lucentaz 04-25-2007, 01:09 PM Damn, that's why I'm always wary of buying first generation cars. It must be a manufacturer design flaw of the fuel pumps. Anyone else had their second fuel pump fail? Right but this is what warranties are for. First gen car buyers should know that they are at more risk for things like this. Price you pay for being first on the block I guess. greenie99 04-25-2007, 02:27 PM One word: Warranty Lock 'er up. Warranty isnt enough to assuage ones anger and frustration with BMW. Alpine3.23 04-25-2007, 02:28 PM Right but this is what warranties are for. First gen car buyers should know that they are at more risk for things like this. Price you pay for being first on the block I guess. +1 x 1,000,000!!!! You know the risks, now stop complaining! siggyfreud 04-25-2007, 03:31 PM I feel sorry for those of you who are experiencing problems. That said, it is true that its the risk you take for driving a 1st gen car. They can only do so much testing in the facility and at a certain point, they just have to hold their breath, release it to the public, and deal with issues as they come. Again, unfortunate, but expected. Dylan. picus 04-25-2007, 10:36 PM I don't enjoy my car because I spend all my time worrying about what might go wrong. Someone help me. :D carr45 04-25-2007, 11:40 PM I had a fuel pump fail....two weeks in the shop and counting. Pump on order from Germany and no telling when one will arrive. Not sure I agree that with notion that people who buy first year cars should resign themselves to mechanical failures just because it's a 'first' year model. Please fix the bugs or at least keep spare parts available. Collards 06-22-2007, 03:38 PM I too had a fuel pump failure with less than 3000 miles on the car. The good news was I purchased the car while living in Germany and it took less than a week to get the new fuel pump in and installed. I have sinced moved back to the US and hope the problem is indeed fixed. Beer Goggles 06-22-2007, 03:42 PM I always think that first year buys should get a gift certificate for a new one when things are going wrong. Not so much free, but an incentive to upgrade should the first ones have lots of problems. Jhunter 06-22-2007, 04:52 PM I had a fuel pump fail....two weeks in the shop and counting. Pump on order from Germany and no telling when one will arrive. Not sure I agree that with notion that people who buy first year cars should resign themselves to mechanical failures just because it's a 'first' year model. Please fix the bugs or at least keep spare parts available. I was told by a service writer I know personally that no pumps are being shipped her for at least two months due to the limited supply. The only way to get one sooner is to pursue (I assume this means legally) having BMW buy back the car. Jhunter 06-22-2007, 04:56 PM I don't enjoy my car because I spend all my time worrying about what might go wrong. Someone help me. :D Does the grin mean you are joking? Because if you are not you need a psychologist. Don't worry about what could happen, just enjoy the car. Almost 5,000 miles on my 335i coupe and the biggest problem has been a valve cap fell off one of my tires (or perhaps it was stolen :confused). brokenbimmer 06-22-2007, 10:51 PM 2 failures would suck. Bad! SocratesBMW 06-23-2007, 12:35 AM Damn the fuel pump, your shit will overheat Blue335i 11-07-2007, 01:27 PM Mine just failed for the second time, though the failure was not as abrupt as the first time. They told me, in August, I got the improved FP, but seems it was not redesigned till 2 months ago. So, if you go one before, say Sept. 1, 2007 I think you are at risk. First, 6100, Second, 9100 miles. Good news, part is in stock, get it back after 3 days in shop, I hope, as I am to pick up today. Kernel Kurtz 11-07-2007, 08:24 PM Why are all those cones knocked over? Beer Goggles 11-07-2007, 08:51 PM Fuel pump knocked them over. Parts break, if they don't treat you well that's the issue. neapolitan 11-07-2007, 10:50 PM Yeah, just reading about the design of the direct injection and new turbo was enough to scare me off from the 335, although it is such a beautiful machine. Very precision machinery, and first generation, new turbo, etc., and I agree these fuel pump failures are heavily advertised / talked about. Oh well, BMW should take care of you though. Did you guys all get a loaner from the dealer while yours was in the shop? trek1500 11-28-2007, 03:27 PM As a new BMW 335i owner what sold me was the 4/50...without that I think I would have been reluctant to pull the trigger... mryakan 11-28-2007, 03:30 PM As a new BMW 335i owner what sold me was the 4/50...without that I think I would have been reluctant to pull the trigger...
