View Full Version : Video/Pics: My new boost controller
RJ's325ITS 04-23-2007, 03:53 PM Well guy finally is here and I'm loving it so far. I bought a Greddy profect B spec II and put it to the test last saturday.
I change my set up a bit, I took out the 11lb sprind and put in a 6lb. So now I can race slow cars out the wastegate by keeping it OFF, but if things turn hot I can turn it ON and race then on 11psi. If they are hella fast I can pull over pour my race gas and turn it to HI and race on 16psi:devillook
Well here is a couple of pics of the boost controller. I thought about placing it in the sunvisor but I went for the easy to reach when I'm racing. The only cons so far is the glare, but once I was done w/ the tuning I works as I wanted.

BTW I made a clip of a couple of races last saturday. I never got around to use my race gas and my HI setting but I will latter.

chisau 04-23-2007, 04:23 PM Nice vids! Would love to have seen it @ 16psi w/ the race gas... Those Z06' never cease to amaze me...
ebydrc 04-23-2007, 04:37 PM holly bad carmera man..
Julz69 04-23-2007, 04:38 PM man do i wish my car was boooooosted. Looks like way to much fun.
DukeM535i/Turbo 04-23-2007, 04:42 PM I also have a Greddy profect B spec II and am happy with it.
I have the low at 10 psi and high at 12 psi right now. Need to get some dyno time before I increase the boost higher.
I have noticed that when it is cooler outside the controller allows higher boost.
Where do you have your gain and set boost set for low/high?
BMW328guy1 04-23-2007, 06:00 PM Can you see the screen from the drivers seat? That location looks like it would be hard to read from the way that its positioned.
wheresmym3 04-23-2007, 06:10 PM holly bad carmera man..
X2
Did he smear oil on the lens or is that about the worst camera ever made? Either way good collection.
GGray 04-23-2007, 06:13 PM I bet the guy in the Z06 was surprised once you guys both got off right:D
Nice...on a stock motor :redspot
shawn5096 04-23-2007, 08:40 PM holly bad carmera man..
+1, but atleast there is video and good sound too :)
GG///M3 04-23-2007, 08:54 PM 1 more reason to want to go with a turbo:alright . Your running Trm kit right?
Julz69 04-23-2007, 08:55 PM yup
Turbo ///M50 04-23-2007, 09:07 PM nice vids but your camera man soxorz :)
m3j0n 04-23-2007, 09:47 PM very innovative, but i probably would have put it somewhere else. YOu didnt like the idea of putting it into the dash below the gauge cluster?
///36M 04-23-2007, 10:23 PM i like the vid's, at least hes out there taping. There are plenty of boosted cars on here, yet hardly any vids.
Was that Z06 stock?

MikeE36 04-23-2007, 11:27 PM Re-dyno on 11psi pump gas and 16 psi C16!!
And more videos please! I'm extremely interested in this kit, and I'd like as much video as you could possibly get! :buttrock ( especially road racing! )

I dont have space there.

The ZO6 had exhaust, cam, intake and tuning the regular stuff 400+ whp, all of these cars are at 400s or over like the cobra is at 480ish.

It was my wife so take it easy;)
Rafa,
slcook54 04-24-2007, 01:10 AM Great vids, awesome job hanging with the Z06 with those mods.

Rafa,
My wife's camera action is the same. :)
///M3Turbo 04-24-2007, 10:50 AM Thanks for sharing the videos! Glad your wife was willing to tape. Mine hates it when I mesh the pedal and the turbo spools and the car rockets forward. I also have the same boost controller in mine.

Thanks for helping me out with the questions I asked you. I guess you are to focused on you videos and racing to help other members.
prodjsxb 04-24-2007, 11:52 AM Vid not working for me :dunno

I just watched it w/no issues....:dunno

Excuse me. If you look at my post it was made past midnight so I was in selecting reading and I just missed your question...... a friendly reminder would've been enough dude:shifty
The way how I understand the profect is that is a boost controller that is going to change form set up to set up, I'm talking about from the turbo size to the engine's CR and charge pipe size. But here are my numbers if you think they might be helpful to you.
LO: set-50 / gain-10 / set gain-50
HI: set-66 / gain-16 / set gain-40
prodjsxb 04-24-2007, 04:51 PM Yeah it works now :dunno
Must have been a google thing :shifty
NoWheelSpin 04-30-2007, 10:06 PM A little shakey and hard to see at times, but well done. There's usually a little adjustment on the camera to help it see at night a little better. Or nightvision might be good. MAybe a little day racing eh?
fivaxis 05-01-2007, 05:10 AM Cool videos.
raoke 05-01-2007, 05:30 AM so only the z06 really killed you... what if you were running 16psi with pump? (is that even doable with your setup?)
PedroBMW 05-01-2007, 02:01 PM i have a noob question,
how can you guys change your boost so much up and down while using the same tune? Won't it end up running rich at low boost and lean at high boost? Is there an acceptable range that you can sway the boost up and down without changing ur tune?

16 psi on 10.5:1 CR with 93 octane fuel is probably not a good idea. I'm still trying to get comfortable with the ~13+ psi boost on pump gas with that motor.

The ECU doesn't know "boost", it knows air flow. The tables, even at WOT, have a load axis, which is tied to air flow. so properly tuned, all boost levels are accounted for with both fueling and ignition timing.
GGray 05-01-2007, 02:08 PM The ignition and fuel maps are in the computer for higher boost it just goes to the part of the map that it needs to use,
Think of it as a large checker board (hold it up and down)when at low boost the car runs around in the lower half, add boost and it runs up into the higher section. each square is a part of the map and tells the computer how much fuel or ignition the car needs at that particular square.
It took me awhile to understand this concept until I actually saw a car running on a dyno with the VE table open. It was neat watching the highlighted box move around inthe VE table.
PedroBMW 05-01-2007, 02:14 PM thanks, that helps, i wont keep asking more since i don't wanna throw this thread OT:D
