i've fought the water pump pulley so many times on so many different bimmers that i decided it's about time i made a tool. i went to home depot and got a long flat piece of aluminum. then carved out some space for the center bolt and drilled two larger holes for the pulley screws. took me the better part of an afternoon to make, but that's mostly because i didn't have the right drill bits, etc... could be done much faster with the right tools.
so now i have a "bmw special tool" :)
i recommend this to everyone. i don't have pics now, but it looks similar to this, which is taken from this thread: http://www.bimmerboard.com/forums/posts/209627
