Howdy all. First post here. I'm an Audi TT owner, so this is my first venture into the BMW forum (officially;).

I'm looking into an X5 for a friend of mine. I'm thinking I'll be looking at a post-'04 model (take advantage of the updates), and was wondering if there was anything I should be aware of specifically from y'all owners. Any input would be great!

On a second note, since I will be like the unofficial father of this X5, how is the tuneability of this ride? I know Audi and BMW sedans/coupes very well, however, I'm not as familiar with tuning options for the X5. Any input here would be great too.

Thanks everyone! I look forward to becoming a pseudo-BMW owner soon!

first off welcome to the BMW world!
I'm not sure what you should look out for but I do think that the SAV's are just as tunable as the cars.

That's what I'm excited about is being able to tune this bad, dirty girl...the car not the girl:) That's blowing a different trombone so to speak.

I have both the A4 and X3 but IMO, the A4 is a lot more tuneable than the X3.

Just make sure you get it with Navigation. Its the only thing I regret not getting with my 04 X5. Also, make sure it doesnt have more than 50k miles, that way any dealership will still service the vehicle at no cost. Good luck.
