my 95 325is auto makes a rattling noise from the engine bay

there is a little black box type thing on the driver side just infront of the tower where your suspension bolts the the body. and that thing rattles like noones business. even just on idle,

what is that thing and why is it making this noise??

the air box, or cruise control. somthing needs to be tightend or you engine is running very rough...your whole car would be shaking. stop by a shop it should be a quick diagnosis and/or fix.

i think its cruise control, it sounds like there is a loose piece inside it thats roling around

I get the same sound in my car and you right about the cruise control actuator. it rattle.
