i am new to bmw's and was just wondering if there are any major differences in the e30 325e and 325i. i have found a lot of parts for the 325i, but hardly any for the 325e (i have an es). also, i found a 318(i?) in the junkyard today and i saw that they had a dual cam inline 4. would that be a good swap for my 325es? i want to make a fun daily driver/weekend track car out of it (auto-x/drift (ex nissan guy addicted)). thanks.

325e was produced up until mid '86, then was switched to the i motor. The cars pieces are basically the same, just different engines and drivelines and stuff.

'E' engine has less hp than the 'i' motor. Transmissions mount up different, different electronics.
