I was wondering if this setup would be too stiff, or ride uncomfortably? Anyone have just HR springs and Stock Shocks, or should I get the bilstein shocks up in the front??

MaaadNYCe 02-19-2003, 12:22 AM Yeah- I have H&R Race springs on my M3, with stock shocks. my shocks have blown. Yours will too, if you don't upgrade the stock shocks as well! -C segal3 02-19-2003, 08:32 PM NuG has springs but not shocks...his car seemed fine ~Matt Segal NuG 02-21-2003, 01:49 PM Yeah I have H&R Sport springs with stock shocks. If you are planning on lowering anything lower than 1.5" then you definately will have to get new shocks. My ride is still very comfortable and feels very sporty compared to stock. Handling has significantly improved and I am very happy. Rob Levinson 02-23-2003, 01:50 AM Not H&R, but UUC with original struts. Works fine with the 740 setup also: http://www.robertlevinson.com/seven/pages/images/pix/ext2.jpg Contrary to popular belief, it's not the height of aftermarket springs that destroys struts (except for crazy 3" drop springs) - it's the different spring rate causing faster or more frequent shock piston movement as well as cavitation of the oil. With a progressive-rate spring that starts out softer, these effects are avoided and strut/shock life should be virtually unaffected. segal3 02-23-2003, 08:41 PM Damn Rob those look good. What size wheels are those (additionally, what size tires?)? ~Matt Segal |
