I was playing around today with turning the DSC/DTC off and the car felt quicker. Especially off the line. The regular acceleration seemed a bit slow to get going but with the DSC off it gives you a bit of wheel spin and a better launch. Does anyone else drive with this off? Also takes out the active steering which is too bad cause I do like it.

Does anyone else know-if you just click the DTC button once, and it says DTC on and DSC is minimal-does that mean DSC is off and you just have DTC or what does hitting the button once without holding it down do? I know you have to hold it down for like 5 seconds to completely turn them off but not sure what happens when you just do it quickly

Which 5er do you have?

Be careful with the DSC off. Dont mash the pedal on turns and be super careful in the rain.

why would u tell him that? that's what's fun about owning a RWD car! DSC took the fun out of it!

Because people arent used to driving the car with DSC off. They can underestimate the power of the car and lose control. Just giving them a heads up.

Getting sideways is the whole reason you turn the thing off. Especially fun in the rain... burns less tread :)

If you have never gotten your car sideways on purpose don't touch your DSC.... It was made for you

I mean, come on. DSC came out on the 540i in 1999...people should know what a car drives like without these nannies.

Hell, my E34 doesn't even have ASC.

I never drive the car in rain therefor the DSC is always disabled. There is no better way.

Im not saying DSC is good. I'm just saying that if youre used to the DSC, you may push your car harder than you should since youre not used to traction on the car.

I once turned off my DSC and forgot about it and went through a turn while on the throttle and spun out (since I have the DSC on 99% of the time).

Basically my advice is to get used to no DSC before you do anything crazy.
