Well everyone,
I just had probably THE MOST AMAZING CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE! It was so good, I have to shout it from the rooftops, straight onto the forums!...

So, I took my car to Erik at EDGE Motorworks in Dublin, CA. to have a lot of work done.... everything got taken care of quickly, professionally, and at a very reasonable price. Now, mind you, EDGE is an hour away from me, so making a trip up there, even for a small thing, becomes at least a 3 hour ordeal, and I have almost ZERO free time. So, last week, I was up there out of necessity (got a ticket for my straight pipe :nono had to put in a muffler :shifty), and I noticed coolant leaking out of the bottom of the car..... I freaked. Erik was booked for the day, and they were leaving the next day (Friday) for the races! I feared the worst (I've had somewhat bad karma with this beast)... Erik was kind enough to take her up onto his lift and pressure test it for me free of charge. Sure enough, it was the water pump. They didn't even have the part in, since I have a 540i, and it requires a very specific pump... So, I was naturally scared shitless i was to be without a car until Monday or Tuesday. Not so. Erik called in the cavalry, and had a few backup guys there on Friday just to help get me back on the road. He had the water pump overnighted, replaced the thermostat, and even cleaned my ICV and MAF for free. The car was ready Friday afternoon! He charged me less than the estimate, because it took less time than he expected (how many shops will actually charge you LESS than an estimate?!?!) and also cut me a great deal.. Flash forward to Monday evening... I get home, and what do I see? Steam, billowing from the hood of my car! I freak out, and call Erik, leaving a panicked message. It's after hours, so I'd have to wait until the next day for a response. I asked in my message whether it was part of the water pump install that went wrong. Erik called me bright and early Tuesday morning. After walking me (complete n00b :help) through how to look at what he thought might be the problem, he diagnosed my bleeder screw broke, and was causing coolant to spray out of the expansion tank. This was no fault of the water pump install that was done by EDGE. So, I asked him when would be the next time I could bring it up to him to get it fixed. He told me he didn't want me to drive it that far, because of the coolant leaking, AND THEN HE DROPPED THE ULTIMATE COURTESY IN MY LAP: He was going to SEND SOMEONE TO WHERE I WORK OR LIVE TO DO THE REPAIR 100% FREE. :buttrock Mind you--all of these guys live in Dublin or Pleasanton, or somwhere close to EDGE... and they're taking time away from working on cars that would make EDGE and Erik a good amount of $$$ to come and fix a problem for me AT MY PLACE OF RESIDENCE at NO CHARGE TO ME! Not only that, they're coming.. well, it's 1 AM now on Wednesday morning... so I guess today hehe... This is simply the best service I've ever experienced from ANY company, and I will never take my car anywhere else. I don't care how far EDGE is anymore. If it was 2 hours, I'd STILL take it there! That is how truly impressed I am.

I HIGHLY recommend their services. Erik and his staff are extremely knowledgeable, kind, and willing to help in any way they can.

I'm gonna bum off your thread, OP!

I've had Edge work on my car by replacing my RTABs and GC Shims a few months back, but that was with an appointment. Great job, nonetheless.

So yeah, today I finally realized why my "CHECK COOLANT, SEE OWNER'S MANUAL" light keeps coming on. No noticeable leaks, noticeable coolant lost, and all cooling essentials been replaced (water pump, radiator, etc). After all the searching and reading about all the info on bf.c about coolant problems and actually flushing my coolant, bleeding everything, etc, nothing helped...:mad

On hot days, I'll be driving on local streets and the thermometer would go from middle mark to the 3/4 mark, sometimes turning on the red light. On the freeway, since im going 65-75+, the air cools down my engine and keeps the needle centered. Thats how I made it to Edge, in Dublin.

Anyway, I was in Davis at the time for school/work, so I figured I'd drop by Edge on the way home. I had called Erik around 1:00 pm and he told me I could bring it by for him to take a look that day. After work, I got to Edge at 5. Erik looked at my car right away, checked pressure and found that my expansion tank had been cracked. Luckily, he had one on hand and after 15 mins to cool, he got it replaced and I was on my way. I say that is the best service I can get. Thanks Erik and Edge :buttrock
