View Full Version : Feeler - in the market for a dirt cheap DD

Once my Mercedes sells, I'm in the market for a dirt cheap car to DD. $1500 at the absolute most, I'd almost prefer a $500 car.

The must haves:

Must be a sedan, with fold down rear seats
Must be a super easy car to work on, and reliable
30 mpg
I'd prefer a 5 speed, but I guess I can rock an auto till it dies, then swap

EDIT: Only Jap cars I will drive are Honda's/Acura's, or Scooby's.

I don't mind something that needs mechanical work, I can do pretty much anything, and have most of the tools anyways. Something needing a motor or trans would be sweet.

Cars I've been considering - Ford Escort, 92 or older Honda Accord, etc., for reference. I'd like something thats not riced out, that will be a very discreet car. Thanks everybody!!!:buttrock

Don't ever do that again.

1. Call me anything other than Jesse
2. Turn down a perfectly good Mazda

;)

They're not so bad, Mazda makes a pretty fair drivetrain.

HAHAHAHAHA, I TOTALLY didn't even think, lol. My bad bro. I'll edit right now, lol.

Ehh, I can't drive them man, lol. I worked at a Ford/Mazda/Subaru dealership once as a tech. I just can't drive em, lol.

I've got a great toyota tercel.

5spd, recent self paint job. Bought from 75 year old original owner, put a new cluster in that has a tach (won't find another with one). New tires, great interior (one rip on driver's seat), fold down rear seats for LOTS of room.

Not QUITE 30mpg, but 28 is close enough.

for 1500, I think I'd let it go. I can give ya some pics of the paint job on request. It's not a very good paint job, but looks good from 5 feet away.

Yeah, and hopefully my Benzino will sell soon, so I can actually buy a car!! It's amazing at how picky I've become with cars after owning 20+, lol

Sorry Tom, but I really can't bring myself to drive/own a Toyota.

I have it's very hit or miss. Was hoping maybe somebody had something, or knew somebody selling something that I would be interested in.

my buddy is getting his new car next week and will be selling his 88-91(?) civic 2dr hatchback 5 speed, red in color, clean interior, needs a clutch, smokes a little, but hasnt left him stranded, seems to be a really good car. I'll ask how much he'll sell it for if you're interested.

You could do it my way... and spend 3x what a decent e36 costs to put all the good things from the e36 (except the rear suspension :() on my e30. :rofl / :help

:/

I'd rather have the integra, but if it's cheaper, it's a possibility. Then again, last time I bought a <$1k E30, I ended up with $3500 into it and counting...........
