View Full Version : WOW-got the remus and new software-294hp
sleepyca31 04-17-2007, 05:55 PM So I got my remus exhaust and a couple days later the performance software for my 07 530i-and I dynoed it before any mods and it actually came out at 259hp stock. After the mods the HP shot up to 294-the software gives you anywhere from 25-30hp and wow it feels super fast and definetly is noticable.
This makes me wonder why BMW would go to 2 turbo's on the 335 and the 08 530i when a few engine adjustments and better flowing exhaust could have got them there-Or on the flip side they should have added turbo as well and marketed 350hp-not sure why bimmer would do that but adding these 2 things seriously made a huge difference-especially on the low-end, off the line is QUCK which I think was teh worst part of the stock 530-that it was slow off the line.
gluck
joebuddy18 04-21-2007, 11:43 AM yeah.. sounds kinda high if its to the wheels... thats 540 territory.
sleepyca31 04-21-2007, 02:11 PM I am sorry it is 270 at the wheels and the 540i is actually slower than this car if not the same-the 540 was not all that quick according to reading about it-I think it had a 6 second 0-60 which mine does now easily-the I6s can go pretty far with power
98M3_4 04-21-2007, 07:04 PM I still say 270 to the wheels is high even with the mods. Post a dyno chart
sleepyca31 04-21-2007, 08:08 PM Like I said I will post when I dyno-probably in 2 weeks or so. I do not have access to a dyno other than where I get my mods and I will not be back in there for 2 weeks when I am getting back in to dyno after the mods have been on for a few weeks -people are such skeptics-why would someone lie and why is 270 hard to believe. The stock hp is 258 (dynoed pre-mod) and the exhaust, intake and complete reprogramming of the engine-easily made it to 270 but will postin a couple weeks
fragzem 04-21-2007, 11:08 PM 540 = 282 to the wheels, no?
anyway
I have a question about the software....
I've been afraid to get that, because I don't want my powerband all $*!(ed up.
I want my torque off the line as it is now or more, I don't want more high end in sacrifice for less low end.
do you notice any less at the low end?
btw i smoked a 2007 530 the other day. now, in all fairness to the machine, perhaps the guy just didnt know how to drive, but until proven otherwise my 540 is faster.
killcrap 04-21-2007, 11:20 PM just wait for the twin turbo v8.
98M3_4 04-22-2007, 12:08 AM E39 540 is around 240-260hp at the wheels stock, depending on outside temp, how close to sea level, etc.
Jed Peters 04-23-2007, 06:25 PM What shop did the work?
I want to call them and have them do some software for me....
Chief F1 Fan 04-24-2007, 07:35 PM ^^ no kidding. I want more info on these two mods please. I'd swear HP is measured at the crank, not at the wheels when mfrs post them. I do find it awful hard to believe there's that much HP at the wheels (stock number even). I've seen a lot of dynos for my 350Z which is reported to have 287 hp. With some engine mods, namely an intake plenum, the flywheel hp goes from 260 to 272, obviously, still lower than reported hp of 287. I strongly suspect this is the same case for the 530.

I call bullshit.
He's been online since this post was made DAYS ago, and never answered the questions...there's NO chip and exhaust that will give that much HP on a normally aspirated car--not to mention the fact that in general his posts on this board seem suspect as it is....
Chief F1 Fan 04-25-2007, 07:05 PM Agreed.
xatlas0 04-26-2007, 03:56 AM +1, a BMW tune is usually pretty good, so an aftermarket tune gives gains in the 5-15 rwhp range, tops. Ditto for the exhaust, unless headers are part of the package, and BMW standard intakes are already CAI and aren't restrictive. The only modern US market BMW to bunk this is the 335, because it has OEM forced induction. (tune + exhaust = E39 M5 slayer, woo-hoo! Too bad the turbos peak at ~3k.)
Now, sure he'll feel things differently on the "butt-dyno", but putting it on an actual dyno will be the real test. Based on the N54-powered Z4 3.0si coupe I drove at the performance school, I'd say the engine lays out probably about 220 to the wheels when pushing through an automatic, in stock trim. The torque curve was suprisingly flat, making the engine far less dramatic, and making it feel much slower than it actually was. It felt like the curve had about a 10% deviation from 3k-5k RPM.
A tune probably made the torque curve far less flat, and therefore far more dramatic, which would make it feel much faster.
hnoppenberger 04-27-2007, 05:24 PM my friends 330i (n52) is slow. i dont see how yours heavier car with that exacty same engine is fast.
