MartinV 04-17-2007, 05:08 PM In 3-4 years??? you really plan ahead LOL
sometimes you gotta pay to play,
spend a bit more now and save .50 per day for the next four years for the next car. That will cover the extra money and more over the 500 you are willing to spend.
e39dream 04-17-2007, 05:15 PM pick up a set of those 200 dollar ebay hella 01-03 knock offs we were talking about, then call up umnitza for an H7 based prolumen xenon kit for less than 300- - angel eyes and xenons for less than 5 bills.

what are you trying to say? its not possible? i did exactly that with OEM hella headlights w/ laminx and Infiniti ballasts and bulbs for $440. <---yes thats not a typo. with the right amount of effort and luck it is easily possible i see headlights on M5boards selling for $400. you can pickup a pair of ballasts and bulbs for ~100 on hid planet. point made :nono
2slow4u 04-17-2007, 06:14 PM You can easiely retrofit some xenon projectors into halogen housing units. Hell! It's practically the same projector except for bulb mount base on the projectors.

is that what you did?

Yup, I totally agree. I almost feel bad for them. It's true...That's price you pay to Play.
SleekBMW 04-18-2007, 01:55 AM ok this is stupid, im not asking for opinions on whether you like to see cheap and bmw in a sentence or not please.
im asking a simple question, and if you dont have a productive good answer, then please, dont fill this thread with garbage.
Thanks.
e39dream 04-18-2007, 02:05 AM I really like the hella 01-03 xenons with the clear corners. I'm looking for an affordable alternative to those lights which retail from 800 something to over 1300 depending on who you get them from.
In my opinion putting a grand worth of headlights on a 10 year old car is like putting a bow-tie on a pig. If I can acheive that look for say 300-400 bucks then it will happen. To each their own but I don't think spending 1k on lights is anything to be proud of- you got burned.
BKphoto 04-18-2007, 09:58 AM the expression is "silk hat on a pig..."

+1 i totally agree. if i dont work out a deal with knux then to ebay it is.
Youngrick 04-18-2007, 10:36 AM well... HID kits are going for $130 in NY so it might be very possible.
BKphoto 04-18-2007, 10:42 AM you don't need to spend a 1000 beans, some clear-corner lenses and good bulbs will work well....when it comes to the angel-eyes the cheap ones don't seem to work well in the cold and don't last as long on top of being a pain to wire up...

well, what do you suggest then? where should i go?
btw is it hard to reseal a headlight?

it was a lot harder than i thought it was going to be (as always) and i have mixed feelings because on the older cars the corner seems huge...but it definitely looks better than the orange corner...
been looking for the guy i got my bulbs from, can't find it at the moment... will look further as the day goes on...
there are a lot of options, but if you are on some back road at night waiting for a deer to jump out you will kick yourself if you got some of that crap thats on ebay...(not saying all of it is)

i see, yes, actually if you can let me know where i should buy my headlights that would be great, but to be honest i think clear looks ugly and i was hoping for orange turn signals. :)
thanks for looking, i actually need the ballasts to because i have halogens right now. but i REALLY want HID + AEs.:redspot

BKphoto 04-18-2007, 12:08 PM i have heard of problems when people wire up the newer lights to the halogen cars, sometimes sends a cel....personally i like the first link better...but, i don't have any experience with them...
its all a crap-shoot...(sorry, i know that doesn't help)
i have learned its better to save up and get what you want, because you may end up there anyway, and you wasted money in the meantime by buying something cheaper...

you know, how would ccfl angel eyes look with HID in stock housing?
BKphoto 04-18-2007, 12:27 PM no idea...to me looks are important, but i want to see well at night...problem is, unless someone else has the same setup you have no idea of the performance...
CCFL Angel Eyes in 97-00 stock headlight housings suprisingly look okay. Notice that I say okay and not great. If you search here you'll find some pics. Obviously they look better at night but they don't look all that ghetto during the day, and I've seen some on an e36 that so my surprise looked pretty nice.
Now as far as getting some OEM 2001+ Hella Xenons with Angel Eyes, I've heard some advise against it, and none that say it can be done. I think it can be done, but like others have said it's probably a crap shoot, and one that I'm not willing to do.
Keep us updated because there're a lot of us that want the 2001+ Xenons with Angel Eyes via an inexpensive route.
