Hey Guys,

I've decided I want a set of 17x8.5 or 17x9 silver SSR Comps or Type-Cs if that is all I can find. I really want silver rims, not anthracite. It looks like TireRack.com only has the Type-C in 17" form.

Two questions:
1. Where can I read about the differences between the Comp series and the Type-C series? I'm having a hard time finding info on the wheels due to the SSR jp website gone missing.
2. Who else sells SSRs other than the TireRack.com given they don't have the wheels I really want?

Thanks,
Rob

The Comp has been discontinued. It was made for the Tire Rack. There is no difference other than the finish on the wheel. Both of the wheels are forged wheels.
If I can help let me know.

For the E46M3, wasn't there a need for "centering rings" or something like that for the original Comps? And those are not needed on the new wheels?

That is correct. The first wheel used a ring and the Type C-RS was drilled specific.

Hello Sir,

Did you get my email? I believe I sent it though Bimmerforums. If not, I can send it again.

Thanks,
Rob

Alright guys I wanted to thank Jim from the TireRack for helping me out with getting my set of 17x8.5, 40mm offset, SSR Type-C RSs w/ 245/40/17 RE01-Rs. They fit without any problems clearancing or rubbing.

You can see a picture here:

I'm still "eyeing" a set of 17x9 BBS RGRs with 245/40/17s. Hmmm....

Thanks,
Rob

Jim. I see the 17x10 SSR Comp-H in a lot of TireRack ads. Does TireRack sell these for BMW bolt spacing? If so, what offset?

Thanks,

Scott

:aroused OOh, that sounds perfect for the fronts, out back I think I'd need serious fender work. Very tempting, thanks for the response!
