i've been curious to know, if instead of spending 600 dollars in dinan for a higher flow throttle body, if it would be easier to just bore it out myself......a friend of mine is a mechanic and has all the necissary tools and skill, and has done a similar mod to his LS1 Camaro, however i know that there is a lot more electronics in a BMW. So i was interested if it was possible to do without too many complications.....hope to hear back from you guys

i got the maf on my 90 pathfinder bored and honed 250 over for about 250 bucks, i'd say a good mechanic is a better way to go if he's got the tools and knowhow... i dunno what effect it would have on the car, or how far you could go though...

Yeah, it could be done if you got the right equiptment. THe difference is that DINAN also give you a new flap that fits over it. I love the throttle response that I get out of mine though, its just phenominal. Car doesn't even feel like its drive-by-wire.

If you're not using the TB in tandem with software, you may not get what you want out of it. Just a thought.

+1
If you don't change the size of the butterfly inside the throttle, then you're wasting time and money. You're still going to have the same size throttle allowing the same amount of air into the engine. Your throttle will just be a funnel with a larger top, but the same size bottom - if that makes any sensoe.
