2004 X3 with auto of course...sometimes it doesn't want to upshift. I'll rev out to maybe 3k and expect it to upshift like it normally does, but not always. When it's acting up it will take 5-7 seconds to upshift with my foot completely off the throttle.
I'm wondering if it could be a software problem or if it might be a trans problem. It's a CPO vehicle so no worries about fixing it, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and what the outcome was...
Gracias-

SIB 24 05 06 is for this problem and it is software related. BUT be aware that after you have this SIB preformed you will notice that the transmission will down shift much more often :( going up small hills.

You might also want to consider resetting the adaptations. There's a new trick floating around (see this thread).

I'll give the quick fix a shot, thanks for the tips guys-
If results aren't what I'm hoping for I'll have the dealer check it out-

I would be interested in hearing if the DIY tranny reset does anything for you.

Drove it some last night, seemed smoother and no hesitation when upshifting.
It only did it sometimes, so I'll know for sure over the weekend.

no real change IMHO...thinking about getting it flashed- Anyone had it done? albran did you have it done or did you hear about the results?

This software change (notice I didn’t say UPGRADE) is a two edged sword. :blackeye
The GOOD: Shifts are much crisper and UP shifts perfectly.
The Bad: Transmission now DOWN shifts MUCH too often. With cruise set @65mph a small rise (notices I didn’t say hill) will cause a down shift. :banghead:
The REALLY BAD: Gas mileage has dropped at least .5 MPG. :angryfire

In cruise >55 I'll usually put it in sport and lock it in 5th. It has plenty enough power to maintain speed in 5th, helped fuel economy on trips too.
I'm going to stick with the current software for now, thanks for the feedback!

yep doing the same :mad . I'm even starting to remember to shift to D or 1 when I stop, at least part of the time :banghead: .
