I think it is too thin. 3/16" won't work. I need a t least 1/2" maybe a little thicker.

Do you have one? Or is it Matt's or something? I remember hearing him talk about carbon a while back. CF is pretty valuable right now... hard to come by. Stupid Boeing and Airbus. :shifty

I don't think you need 1/2", Karl. How thick is the one you have now?

I believe about 1/2" thick But I could be wrong. I can do pretty advanced computations in my head, but am really bad at measurements. So unless I measure I am not sure. Really I just the abs not to bend under pressure and to be fairly strong. The current splitter has actually held up really well. But I am going to make a one piece unit that also doubles as an underpanel as well.

I am also going to try and seal some of the gaps a little better, and attach the bumper better as well.

Calsak off Sweetwater Road. Go I85 North, take a right on Pleasant Hill, then a left on Sweetwater Road. Make a left into the Office/Industrial park, go right and it'll be straight ahead of you. Been there plenty of times in the past.

From what I remember, it was 5/16"-3/8" thick max. 1/2" is thick as hell, and would be ridiculously heavy. I definitely dont recall the lip being and armor undertray.

Have any screen shots? My screen is a $56 piece of wilsonart laminate. Looks great and it's indestructible.

You are probably right.. Like I said I am terrible with eyeing measurements. 3/8" sounds much better

Yea.. It can look better though.. Plus I want it to go all the way back to the steering rack. So a redesign is in order. I can feel it pulling on the car at about 50-60 MPH

Make sure you keep the Quarter holder as a part of the new design. ;)

Do you want just the undertray? Or the undertray/splitter thingy?

Project Update

Karl and I are looking into fabbing up a few of these for our selfs.
once its all said and done i plan to give out a pdf of the CAD drawings for the part and any info i can to help the average joe build their own ;)

the design is not made to meet specific racing rules, but can be changed as needed, this will replace all of your plactic pork chops and go all the way back ot thee front subframe. keeping with the good ole cheep college budget you can expect fancey-shmancey stuff like zip-ties ;)

we will makes changes to fit both 32X and M3 bumpers and might offer to build a SMALL run of splitters at a very low profit

my total ball park *guess* is ~$100 but im still weaiting to see about costs

here's a peak of whats to come ;)

we have a source on 1/4" ABS out of B'ham
cost should be low (pending shipping we are looking to get under $100)

this design goes back ot the subframe and can come as far as 6" forward of the 328 bumper line, ofcorse this can be trimmed down to meet your needs

we hope to use scrap to buffer air away front he tiers to help lower drag ;)

production should be in early/mid Feb, let us know now if you want one so we can get a sheet with your name on it ;)
